Aubrey's POV
He came rushing out of his office within minutes of me walking in on him. His shirt was still undone and don't even get me started about his pants, half on and half off. I cried harder onto Amy's white blouse as father ran his fingers through his hair.
"Aubrey, can we talk about this?" He asked. "Please?"
There was nothing to talk about. What would I even say to him? I didn't know how he could do this to us, our family. Our last name is something we built up during the years and now he was ruining it, because he was fucking someone! A woman I had no idea about, a woman that wasn't my mother.
Mother. Oh my god! What would mother think about this sudden scandal? It was hard to think about she was already getting rid of his stuff, but did this mean their relationship was done for good? A divorce would make headlines, it would ruin everything we worked so hard for. People wouldn't trust our company anymore, no one would! How can you trust a man that cheats on his wife and makes his kid's life a living hell?
I looked up from Amy's shoulder and felt my tears cascade down onto the flooring. I straightened up and looked at my rugged father. His hair, a mess. His neck, full of hickies. And his clothes, barely on. Why? I thought. Why ruin a perfectly good family? After everything we'd been through I didn't think my father would be the one cheating. Grant it, I didn't think anyone would cheat! This was out of hand and made me want to cry harder.
"Aubrey," He whispered. "Please?" It was weird to hear please come out of my father's mouth. He wasn't one to ask, he did what he wanted. It was very apparent now, he did do a random woman. He did what he wanted without thinking of the consequences.
Amy started tiptoeing off towards her desk. I recoiled like a cobra ready to attack, as much as it pained me to look at him in the eyes I had too. It was the only way I would be getting my point across to such a man. Now this crowded my head as I thought about what to say, but it didn't help at the state of what my father was in. As I looked him over a third time, I noticed how his sleeve's were undone. Cuff links, gone. He had scruff growing and to add to that, he looked like he'd been drinking.
But this time he couldn't blame the alcohol. Not now, not ever.
"How could you, Father?" My voice already cracked, just from the first question. "How could you do this to Becca? To Turner? To Mom? After everything she's done for you? This is how repay her, by fucking some random woman?" I asked, emotions peeping through my stone cold stature.
"Please, don't use tone with me--"
"Use tone?" I asked. "I'm going to use all the tone I want because you are cheating on Mom. Because I am the one who caught you doing it and I honestly don't know how to feel about this, Father."
He opened and closed his mouth, as if he could make this better by saying something. Just from looking at him I could tell the gears were churning in his head, and it hurt so much. I felt so numb as I pressed my lips into a thin line. My hands were shaking as I looked down, as if I need more of a reminder of what was going on.
"How long has this been going on?" I asked.
"What?" He whispered.
I shook my head while getting into his space. I put a finger up to his face and pointed at him. "How long has this been going on, Father?"
He shrugged his shoulders as he let out a sigh. "I don't know, Aubrey."
"Yes, you do." I looked at Amy, even though I didn't want to bring her into this. "Amy, how long has this woman been coming to father's office? Please answer me," I pleaded with her.
