Theo's pov
I went straight to English after the bell rang, Phillip went to math and Angie had to head to gym. I sat down in my English class wishing me and Phillip had the same time table. Thats when Mrs Smith announced that she'd be handing back last week's essays. A wave of panic flowed through me, even though I always get good grades I couldn't help panicking. The teacher stood in front of me with my essay and said
"Very good work Theo just like always." She handed me my essay well she smiled at me then she moved on to the next person. I looked at the paper I had gotten a A dad was gonna be so proud! I sat there for the rest of English taking notes and then I got time to work on my essay on Cinderella. It was going extremely well and I was hard at work until I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Jackson Thomas Jefferson's son he said
"Hey Theodosia what should I do my essay on?" "You haven't chosen a topic yet we have been working on this since friday!" I say in utter disbelief. "I know we had all weekend but I just couldn't think of a idea and I was busy with football." He said defensively. Of course he used football as a excuse that's all those football players ever talk about that's why I like Phillip he actually has a personality and interests outside football. "Ok, how about Rapunzel or Snow White Disney fairytales are classic pieces of literature." I tell him. "Thats a great idea Theodosia your so smart." He exclaims. "Aww thanks Jackson, so what are you choosing to do your essay on?" I asked him and gave him a little smile. He gave a little laugh at my smile then responded with "Snow White because it's my little sister, Harmony's favorite story!" "That's so sweet of you Jackson." I tell him. Sometimes I forget he has a sister I was so use to him being a only child. Just then the bell rings and I head off to my next class.
A sat there in science day dreaming about what my life would be like if me and Phillip got married. I never day dream in class but today was a exception I'm already ahead in science and Mr. Harlow gave me the period off so I got to work on anything I wanted. Thats when the bell rang, I grabbed my bag and headed off to lunch.
When I got there I saw Phillip talking to one of the lunch ladies, I sat down at our table near the back window I pulled out my ham sandwich I made this morning and stared at the clouds floating by. My dad started making me make food from home after mom died he said the schools food was too processed and he can't risk me dieing of malnutrition or side effects of eating too much processed food. I think he's crazy but he gave me the glance just like the one he gave me this morning and then I stopped fighting him. I didn't want to fight with him anyways especially when my mom's involved. I could feel the tears in my eyes like a flood about to rush out. Just then Phillip came over and sat down across from me, his cheeky smile and freckles made me smile and helped distract me from thinking about my mom.
"Hey Phillip how was class." I ask him once he's seated. "Good, I got called on in math and I wasn't paying attention but luckily I was able to figure out the correct answer in time." He told me. I smiled at him and said "Of course you figured it out your really smart." He then took a bite of his pizza and the told me "Yeah but your smarter, your essay are flawless and you get straight A's." "Your the sweetest." I say and then give him a big smile and a little wink. He then asked me "How was class for you?" "Well I got a A on my essay!" I say. "Thats amazing!" He tells me. I can feel my smile grow even bigger. We spend the rest of lunch mostly in silence and then the bell rings and we both head to our next class.
I sit there in music class waiting for the teacher to let us pack up for home time. I've already packed up my clarinet and my backpack sat under my chair. Just then the bell rings and we all stand up and rush to the door. I walked down the crowded hallway it smelled like sweat and body spray I pushed my way through the crowds to my locker. Once their I quickly grabbed my things and headed towards the parking lot. Once I walked outside I immediately noticed my dad's black corvet. I hoped in the car and was greeted by my dad,
"Hey sweetie how was school?" He says with a smile. "It was actually really good dad, I got a A on my essay!" I tell him very enthusiasticly. "I'm so proud of you!" He exclaims as he wraps his arms around me. His hug is warm and makes me feel safe, well I'm in his arms I feel like nothing can hurt me. We then head out of the parking lot and once we get home I head upstairs and text Phillip. He asks if I want to study for are big math text next week and of course I said yes. We studied for a couple hours till dad called me for dinner. I scampered down the stairs to help set the table. We sat at the table in silence for the most part well we ate our steak and potatoes. Dad has never been very chatting since mom's death, she made him into the very talkative person he used to be. Since she died he has become quiet just like before he met mom, sometimes I miss our chats but I don't want to bring it up with him. My mom's a very sensitive topic for him, I've learned to not talk about her with him. After dinner I washed the dishes then got into my light green pyjamas. I then brushed my curly hair and headed to bed. As I walked towards my bed I went past my photo of my mom I felt the pain of her death come at me like a flood. I miss her so much but I tried my best to put that thought away and focus on dreaming about life with Phillip.
