let's play ball (part 1)

Phillips pov

   I woke up to my alarm clock beeping, I stumbled out of bed and quickly put on a old pair of jeans and a grey hoodie. My mother was waiting for me downstairs she handed me a bowl of porridge, I sat down next to Angie at the breakfast table. She was spoon feeding Will some porridge, Will was known to spit up food and next thing I know he's got porridge dribbling down his chin, Angie grabs a napkin and wipes it up she seems unfazed like it had been the tenth time he'd spit up today. I finished my porridge and then headed towards the door, I grabbed my backpack and kissed my mom on her cheek and then ran to catch the bus Angie right behind me.

I arrived at the school and grabbed Theo's hand I walked her to class just like I had all this week, after the weekend I couldn't bare to be away from her. I sat down at my desk in English I pulled out my essay that Theo had helped me finish last night, Mrs. Smith grabbed my essay and scanned it over before shoving it in the pile with the rest of my classmates essay. I sat there and watch as she snatched up the rest of my classmates essays. I had written my essay on Shakespeare play Macbeth, it was such a classic piece of literature. I made sure to pay lots of attention to the spelling words we had a big spelling test this Friday and dad would be so upset if I got less then a 85% percent again.

The bell rang and I headed off to chemistry, Mr. Rowland sat in the teachers desk playing a sudoku, he sat the book down when he saw that the whole class had arrived. "Welcome to chemistry." He said in his low boring voice, his voice nearly put me to sleep. Kiki Laurens tapped my shoulder and said "You ready to make elephant toothpaste?" "Of course I've been waiting for this project all year!" I tell her just then I hear a "SHUSH!" From Mr. Rowland desk. "Sorry Mr. Rowland." I say giving him a sympathetic smile. I walked over to the ingredient cabinet and helped Kiki grab all the supplies we need, "Ok, we need dry yeast, a empty plastic bottle, dish soap, hydrogyne peroxide, measuring cups and spoons and food coloring." I explain as she grabs the ingredients off the shelf and hands them to me. We walk back to our shared desk and pull out a container to perform the experiment inside last thing we wanted was to have to spend all break mopping the chemistry classroom. I placed a pair of safety glasses around my eyes I looked over to see Kiki doing the same. "Ill put the first ingredient in." she said as she secured her curly brown hair in a bun. Her hair was even more curly then my hair if you pulled it, it always seemed to bounce right back in place like a bungee cord. I placed the empty plastic bottle in the middle of the plastic tub container. I watched as she carefully measured out half a cup of half a cup of hydrogen peroxide to the empty bottle in the middle of the container. "Your turn." She's says as she places the measuring cup onto her desk. I grabbed the dish soap and squirted it in the container and started sitting with the sitting stick Mr. Rowland put in everyone's desks. Kiki grabbed the blue and red dye and added a few drips. I one tablespoon of yeast in a measuring cup and Kiki added 3 tablespoons of warm water, I stired for 30 seconds and then I carefully handed the mixture to Kiki. "Ready?" She asked. "Ready." I replied. She looked the two mixtures together, a light purple foam overflowed from the plastic bottle and poured into the tub. "Well done Kiki and Phillip A+." Kiki looked overjoyed, her smile was huge, I can't believe we got a A+. Just then the bell rang and me and Kiki quickly cleaned up.

After school I met Theo and Angie near the football field, I quickly said hi and then headed to the football locker rooms. Jackson tapped my back, "hey bro, ready for the game tonight." "Yeah I'm ready, I can't wait we haven't had a big game in so long." I told him as I changed into my football gear. "Is your girlfriend gonna be here I wanna thank her for helping me with my English essay." Jackson explained to me. "She'll be here, and If I see her I'll tell her you say thanks." "Your the best, man." He said as he patted me on the back. We walked out of the changing room together and headed towards our coach for are pregame pep talk. "Ok boys let's do this, I know the Britain Seahawks are tough but we can win this and remember try your best and have fun." My couch told us very confidently. We placed are hands in a huddle and cheered go "WASHINTON WASPS!" We headed into the field, I looked to my left and saw Theo and Angie in the stands cheering for me.

I got in my spot and prepared for the game, I could see the Britain Seahawks staring us down trying to make us scared. I wasn't fazed I gave my teammates a glance like we got this. My teammates gave me a little nod back. I heard the whistle blow and we raced at the other team, I tackled a tall kid with long blonde hair, he toppled to the ground. I spotted a kid running with a football tucked in his arms, I speed towards him my heart pounding, sweat running down my face. I grabbed him and pulled him to the ground, I heard a thud as we smacked into the ground. My coach blew the whistle, I let go of the kid he looked at me and said "Phillip Hamilton." As he groaned. "George Eacker." I say as I give him a death glare. Me and George Eacker had been sworn enemy's kinda like my father and Aaron Burr. "Boys come here!" My coach yelled from cross the field, I took one more look at Eacker on the ground and then ran towards my coach. I sat down on a bench next to my fellow teammates and grabbed my waterbottle, the water was cold and felt so nice on my dry throat. "Slow down buddy your gonna choke." James told me. I gulped down the rest of my water. The game was so close the Seahawks and us kept switching back and forth who had the lead.

The game was almost done we were winning by one point I sat on the bench taking a break with my teammates well we all caught are breath we came up with a plan. "Ok Phillip, Jackson and James your job is to defend we can't let them score a touch down." Our coach explains to us. We nodded at our coach signifying that we could do that. "Sam, Tyler, Jeremy and Garrett, your Job is to score a touch down." He told me and my teammates. I zoned out as he explained the rest of his plan I could see Theo sitting on the bleachers her hair flowing around her shoulders, her black skirt blowing side to side slightly in the wind. I heard a loud whistle in my ear and hopped off the bench and sprinted towards the field. I can do this just don't let them past I repeated in my head as I got ready for the Seahawks to come sprinting at me. The whistle blew and raced to my position near the touchdown zone, the clocked ticked down. Just then out of no where a kid ran right towards me a brown football tucked under his arms. I ran towards him throwing all my wait on his body, I thought I had him but then I felt him slipping out of my group. I pushed my foot into the grass and tightened my grip. I heard a whistle I did it, we won I stopped the Seahawks from winning. I let go of Eacker I expected him to get up and walk away but he just layed there and groaned, he looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "help." "Are you ok, I didn't mean to hurt you." I said frantically looking at my coach for help. "I think my ankles sprained, thanks a lot Phillip." He says angrily from the ground, my coach and a nurse ran towards us and ushered me away. I went back to the bench my team cheered but I wasn't happy, I'd always hated Eacker but I never wanted to hurt him. After my team finished congratulating me I walked over to Theo.

She was smiling at me but then quickly stopped smiling when she saw my face, it was if she could tell I was upset. "You did great Phillip I'm so proud of you, and don't worry about Eacker I'm sure he'll be alright." She said as she gave me a sympathetic smile. "Theo thanks for always being there for me, I just feel horrible for hurting him I promised myself when I started playing football that I'd never seriously hurt someone." I say as I look back at where Eacker had layed. "Phillip." she says as she grabbed my shoulder and smiled. "You are a good person it wasn't your fault you didn't try to hurt him." She explained to me as she rubbed my back. I calmed down and glanced into her bright blue eyes. "Your right, let's go get a snack." I told her. "Ok let's go." She said as she grabbed my hand and waved goodbye to Angie who was sitting on the bleachers still.

Me and Theo walked to a nearby frozen yogurt shop, and got some frozen yoghurt. We talked about how excited we were for the dance this Saturday. "So, you excited for the dance? I asked her as I took a scoop of my frozen yogurt and placed it in my mouth. "I'm so excited, I can't wait to dance with you." Theo replied. "I can't wait to dance with you." I told her. We finished our frozen yogurt and then, I called my mom and Theo called her dad they both came and picked us up. When I arrived at home I told my mom about Eacker she comforted me just like Theo had, I could tell that Theo was gonna be a great mother someday. I helped my mom make dinner and that night played with my siblings. I played with them till it got late then tucked them in, I was glad I could help my mom out she needed a good night's sleep. It is hard to take care of my siblings I've had to take care of them before for several hours and it's exhausting. I went to my room and finished up some homework then got ready for bed. I hopped into my bed and played my head on my pillow. I fell asleep as I thought about Eacker's body laying on the field.
