the dinner (part 1)

Phillips pov

   I awoke the sunlight shining through a crack in my window. I sat up and put on his fox slippers, and headed down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs was Will trying to climb up them. I scooped him up and put him on my shoulders. I carried him into the kitchen well Will squealed with delight.

"Hey Phillip, you ready for tonight?" My mom asked me. "As ready as I'll ever be." I tell her. "Phillip can you take the kids to the park after breakfast so I can prepare tonight's dinner." She asks me. "Sure mom!" I say as I sit down and start to eat a fresh mango. The juice of the mango drips down my chin, Angie hands me a light blue napkin. I thank her and wipe the drip of my chin.

After breakfast I bring the boys upstairs with me and help them get dressed, while Angie helps dress the girls. I grab my white t-shirt and my blue blazer, grey socks with a little fox on the back. I've always liked Fox's my dad used to call me his little fox, he'd always say I would blow us all away. I then turn to Will and help him get his arm in his green
t-shirt. I then bring the boys downstairs, I see Angie near the door helping one of my little sisters get her shoes on. I smile at her and she smiles back. I grab my shoes and start to put them on, I feel a tug on my hair it's Will holding his small grey shoes. I finish tying my shoe and then place his shoe on his small foot, he giggles as I grab his foot. Once me and Angie have all the kids shoes on we head out the door.

Once we arrive at the park the kids run off and start playing. Will on my shoulders, I put him down and help him climb to the top of the park. I sit down on my butt and place Will in my lap and slide forward. As we slide down the turquoise slide Will Squeals!

"Again, again!" He says once we reached the bottom.

"Ok, Will let's go!" I say as I place him back on my shoulders.

After silding down the slide a couple more times we head over to the swings. I secure Will in the little kiddy swing. I push him back and forth for a while until I feel a tap on my shoulder it's Angie.

"Hey, let's go home." she says.

Ok let's go." I respond as I unbuckle Will from the neon yellow swing.

We walked back to our house, while walking I realised how tired I was. The sun shined down on my back and neck, it was so hot outside. Just then I saw our house, we walked up the driveway Will on my shoulders John holding my hand and the rest of the kids following behind with Angie making sure no one got left behind.

"Were back mom!" I called out as I untied my shoes. "Ok sweetie just putting the turkey in the oven." She yelled from the kitchen.

Once all the kids had there shoes off I went upstairs and took a shower. I was hot and sweaty and I wanted to be clean for tonight's dinner. I felt the water flow over my body, as I thought about how tonight might go. I told my dad a couple days ago about the dinner and he wasn't  happy. He agreed to come and hear what me and Theo had to say. I stepped out of the shower and out of my thoughts, I wrapped the towel around my waist and headed to my dresser. There in the top drawer was my fanciest blazer and my white under shirt that I ironed yesterday. I put my clothes on then grabbed my hair dryer.

"Need any help mom?" I ask her after getting dressed. "Yes I do, can you set the table." She asked me. "I can do that mom." I say as I walk into the kitchen. "Thanks son." She said as she gives me a smile. "Wow, your looking handsome today." She told me. "Thanks mom." I reply.

Half an hour later I hear a knock on the door, I head over and open the door. Standing out there on our porch was Aaron. Burr and Theo stood by his side.

"Come in." I say.

They both step inside, Theo look so pretty her brown hair covered her shoulders and she was wearing a flattering yellow sunflower dress. Her dad was wearing a dark maroon suit with a black tie. I Lead them to the dinning room her dad took a seat at the head of the table across from my dad. I pulled out a chair next to John and held it out so Theo could sit down.

"Thank you Phillip." She said as she gave me a smile. "It's nice to have you all here." My mother said as she entered with a perfectly cooked turkey, It smelled amazing. "Thank you for inviting us Mrs. Hamilton." Aaron. Burr  said calmly. He seemed more relaxed then I thought he would be. Theo seemed relieved that her father was being nice. The room went quiet for a couple seconds but my mom broke the silence by saying, "who's ready to eat." A bunch of cheers erupted around the table from my siblings. My mother grabbed the bowls from the table and helped my younger siblings get the food on their plates.

After everyone finished eating dinner our father's looked at me and Theo. My father asked us "so what do you too kids need to tell us." I gave Theo a nervous glance she just gave me a reassuring smile. "Well dad, Mr. Burr we just wanted to tell you that me and Theo are going to the dance together." I said stumbling over my words. Are father's exchanged looks of angry and shock. I saw my dad take a deep breath as if to calm himself so he doesn't lash out in front of my siblings. "Theo my darling does being with Phillip make you happy"? I could see the tears in her father's eyes. "Yes father." She responded without missing a beat, she grabbed my arm as she responded. "Then you can go to the dance with him Theo." He said, I could tell he wasn't happy about this but he seemed like he real cared about Theo's feelings. Just then my dad said, "does this mean you two are dating?" My face went bright red, Angie gave a little giggle. Theo's face was also bright red she looked so embarrassed. I looked at theo and the we both said in unison "YES!" She looked at me and I grabbed her waist she grabbed my face and kissed me. Are father's stood there in shock and my younger siblings looked at me with wide eyes of shock. Are father's looked at each other and then my dad said, "If this makes you two happy then It's ok with me." "You both know we don't agree with this but we will put are differences aside for you." Aaron. Burr said with a smile. Eliza started picking up plates around are large wooden table Theo and me offered to help and are father's left the table to have a conversation in my dad's office. My younger siblings ran off into the play room.

"Thank you for helping me Theo." She said with a smile. "It's no problem Mrs. Hamilton." Theo told my mother. "Call me Eliza." My mother said as she placed the dishes in the sink.

After the kitchen and dinning room were cleaned I brought Theo upstairs to my room. I show here around my small room.

"Theo time to go!" Her father calls from downstairs.

"Guess I got to go." She's says as she let's go of my hair. "Yeah I guess so." I tell her. As she walked towards my door I sat up, she smiled back at me as she opened my door, she winked then left. I collapsed in my bed, thinking about how great this day was. I lay there exhausted from the day wishing I could be with Theo forever and dreaming of our future.
