Paul woke up the next morning reaching over to grab you, finding the spot cold and unslept in. The memories of the night before came flooding in. Anxiety hitting him like a freight train as he recalled the blow-up between you and him, and the words that he had feared left your lips.

"Gene gets involved with my relationship and now I'm losing my girlfriend." Paul sighed.

Looking at the clock reading five am, and hearing the sounds of his son whimpering from the monitor on your night stand. Throwing the covers off he jumped up and padded over to his son's room.

"Shh, It's okay, Evan , come here" Paul whispered as he picked up his son from his crib

Evan put his head into the crook of his dad's neck sucking on his thumb. Paul quickly changed his son before sitting down in the rocking chair. Humming the two-years favorite song until Evan finally drifted off to sleep. Paul stood at his son's crib for a few moments making sure the boy was really asleep before he left the room.

" Five a.m, and I'm wide awake, great." Paul groaned to himself heading down the stairs to the kitchen.

He found you asleep on the couch, his anxiety declining as you hadn't tried to leave him in the middle of the night. Paul watched your slow breathing and he did everything in his power not to wake you up, and to fix all of it before the sun was up, but he refrained. You would talk when you were ready.

You started to stir as Paul walked off to the kitchen, following his morning ritual of making coffee and reading the paper before Evan was up for the day. A noise pulled him from the paper as. he looked up to see you standing in the door frame

"Morning, Y/N" Paul nodded before returning to the paper in his hand.

Paul waited to see if you would start talking to him, giving a sign that things were okay, but the room remained silent. The anger building up from the game he hated even as a kid, 'the silent treatment.' Pam, his ex-girlfriend had played the game well.

"Really Y/N, You're going to sit there and ignore me?" Paul asked

You headed up the stairs and straight to the master bedroom, slamming the door behind you. Evan screams and cries followed quickly flooding through the baby monitor. Throwing his paper on the table, trying to regain his composer before getting his son.

"This is going to be a fucking fantastic day." Paul mumbled to himself as he ran up the stairs.

It took sometime before you emerged from the bedroom finding Paul still in the kitchen feeding Evan. Paul looked at you out of the corner of his eye, waiting to give you a chance to speak, before attempting to break the wall down again.

"Good Morning, Y/N." Paul said again, turning away from Evan.

Flipping through the channels on the television , as though he had never spoken to you. Paul turned back around continuing to feed his son before speaking up again, pointing at the couch.

"This is called the silent treatment buddy, this what petty people do instead of being an adult and not talking about what they feel." Paul told his son.

"Maybe petty people are trying to get over being mad before talking to the so-called adult, so cruel things aren't said that are regretted later." You snapped back.

Paul pulled Evan out of his high chair grabbing his car keys from the hook in the kitchen. Evan looked over from his dad to you, instantly putting his head into the crook of Paul's neck.

"You know what Y/N, take all the time you need today. You can decide to talk this out or you can decide if you're going to go back to Oklahoma and be miserable." he told you before slamming the door behind him.
