01- Bonus Chapter
The Roller Coaster Ride
Jack Nicholson...
Waiting for Ethan at airport is the last thing I wanted on this Saturday!!!
Apparently this crazy friend of mine hooked up with some girl last night and as always he didn't bring his car. And to impress her for setting his next deal, he accompanied her to airport for the reason I don't know.
Hooking up with every other girl seems easy to him than to profess his love to Zee.
And I m stuck between those two.
Anyways something – I mean someone got my attention. The girl came out of airport looking in every direction. She looked ... Happy.
How can someone be that happy after having a flight?
For some unknown reason I couldn't take my eyes off her. Her bouncy hair, her enthusiastic steps and the excitement in her eyes was different for me, after all these years.
After all these years I genuinely took interest to look at someone.
Unknowingly a small smile crept on my face which lasted for few moments as she halted a cab. She talked with driver with that very smile and she gave something to driver – probably the address to where she wanted to go.
Generally people just order driver to load their luggage in trunk but this girl helped the driver and climbed into car and just vanished in busy streets of Amsterdam.
"Ohh my friend, my savior you are here!!!" – I turned to direction of voice knowing exactly who was there.
"I have project work to go through and so many more important works than to pick you up from here, you know that right?" I couldn't help but being irritated with this dumbo.
"But you see, you came here, just for your friend!" He said imitating his words in action like some drama.
"Drama queen!" I said shaking my head in exasperation.
"King... It should be Drama King. Now let's go, we can't miss Saturday Special brunch made by you, now can we?" – With that he led me to our car – he knew where I park the car usually.
"Ethan-" I threw the keys at him. And as expected he looked surprised!
"Are you feeling well Jack? I mean I certainly had seen someone very lucky face." Ethan and his extra feelings.
"If you don't want it, I can-" Before I could complete my sentence he set on driver's seat.
I need to clear my head before I reach home. That girl has fogged my mind just with her 2 minutes appearance. I need to think straight.
I completely ignored Ethan's rambling about the last night as my mind was preoccupied with her thoughts.
To my surprise I actually thought about the place she would be and the thought whether I will get a chance to see her again?
"And I happily agreed to let my ship marry a goat." – Ethan said something.
"Ahh yeah... wait what?" – The last sentence finally brought me out of my thoughts of the unknown girl.
"So you weren't listening, you didn't listen a word.!" – Ethan chimed at me.
"Why do you sound like a high school girl?" I said with equal irritation.
We reached home. We had our brunch. I tried to busy my mind in piles of work but my thoughts kept to stop at glimpse of that girl.
I should call Zee. Her nonstop talks can divert my mind. She wasn't picking up the phone – she would be on her date.
So I called the only person who knows my state of mind - Granny.
I called and she picked up in just one ring as if knowing I was going to call.
"What a fine surprise dear!" My granny said with her ever delightful voice.
"Hey Granny, were you already waiting for the call? How are you and Grandpa?" I asked.
"How can I forget? Its Saturday sweetheart. You didn't call in morning." Granny complained.
"Sorry, I was caught up with work." I waited for her reply but there was a silence on line for few seconds.
"Granny?" I check whether call got disconnected or what.
"I am here dear. And yes your Grandpa is just as young as always." Their undying love.
"Something you want to tell me boy?" Granny asked. No surprise she knows there's something in my mind.
"Hmm. Nothing Granny. I will come for dinner today." I suddenly made decision and told her.
"That's good. I was just going to say the same. We'll be waiting son." – Granny was happy I knew that from her voice.
"See you later Granny. Take good care till then." I said my bye and tried to focus on the actual things which needed my attention.
.
.
.
We sat at holding beer bottles and enjoying peaceful night in Grandpa's farm where we made place to enjoy nature. Granny was studying me and I knew exactly what she wanted to know.
So I told them. That was the only thing I can get rid of those thoughts.
"I went to pick up Ethan from Airport this morning and I saw a girl. I don't know who she is. She seems Asian and just that she caught my attention without her knowledge. I don't know why but her pure joy just caught my eyes and nothing more."
I watched them carefully to know their reviews. Granny was in her thoughts while Grandpa had that knowing smile on his face.
"Anything you want to share Grandpa?" I couldn't wait anymore.
"She has something that you have long forgotten son." And suddenly I didn't want to hear it further but I didn't have any way to escape.
"There could be two reasons. First is that she was genuinely happy with what she was experiencing. Second is that she is the best in hiding what she doesn't want people to know and make people believe that she is happy."
Granny agreed with him. But my quietness forced them to change the topic to the business and to the farm activities going on. And I couldn't be more grateful to them to understand me more than anyone else.
I took their leave. I hugged Granny and Grandpa. Granny said something that stopped for good ten seconds.
"Be ready to experience the roller coaster ride of your life dear."
