Chapter 7 - Rough Day
~ Nikki's POV ~
I don't wanna go to school, I just wanna break the rules. Boys and girls across the world putting on our dancing shoes... Charlie XCX blared through my phone to wake me up at 6:15 in the morning so I could get ready for school. The song perfectly described my attitude this morning.
"Shut the damn thing off, it's the middle of the night." Hailey chucked a pillow at me and buried her head in the pillow under her head.
"Good morning to you too." I said sarcastically. "Sorry, I'm going now anyway."
I grabbed my phone, back and the outfit I had chosen yesterday and walked out of the room.
I turned the knob on the bathroom door, only to find it locked.
"Morning, who's in there?" I said, knocking on the door.
"Good morning, it's Liam. I'll be out in a moment."
"Sure, no problem." I replied.
I decided to empty my school bag out on the counter to see if I had everything I needed - it was Monday, so I had Chemistry, Drama, Math, and English.
Mondays really were the worst days of the week.
Ten minutes had passed and Liam still hadn't gotten out of the bathroom. I didn't think I was in the right place to tell him to get out so I made myself breakfast.
While I was speading peanut butter on the warm toast, I heard a door unlock and Jace stepped out of his room.
"Good morning." We said in unison, smiling at each other.
He walked over to the other side of the kitchen island, where I was standing, and opened in the fridge to find something to eat.
"Someone needs to go grocery shopping." Jace stated the obvious, holding the jar of peanut butter which I just emptied a few minutes ago.
Just then, Liam stepped out of the bathroom and walked into the kitchen.
"Sorry for taking so long." Liam apologised, it's just that someone has to look after this gorgeous face."
I laughed at him and then turned to Jace.
"Here, have this." I handed Jace my peanut butter toast. "I'm going to have a shower."
"Well, if you insist." Jace took the plate eagerly and dropped on the lounge.
I grabbed my toiletries and clothes and went into the bathroom. I was surprised to see that it was clean - the mirror only had a couple of water stains and few fingerprints, hand soap and deodorant were the only things on the vanity and the toilet was clean.
I opened the new pack of body wash I had gotten from Hailey and washed my body. I stepped out, moisturised my body and got dressed in the dark shorts and t-shirt I had borrowed from Hailey yesterday. I brushed my teeth with the minty toothpaste, which I absolutely hated, pulled my wavy hair into a ponytail and went into the kitchen to grab my bag. I was surprised to see that I had spent an while hour in the bathroom. I never took that long!
Kyle was awake now and flicking through the channels on the TV. I took a quick glance at the clock - 8:17 am - I had thirteen minutes to get to school. I still had time to apply mascara and lip gloss and a quick run for coffee.
I applied little makeup, threw my bag on my shoulders and opened the door to leave. "Cheerio." I said to the guys.
"Hold on, I'll drive you." Jace offered, taking the last gulp of his orange juice and placing his dishes the sink. "I can stop buy at the grocery store that way."
