Chapter 9 - The Little Birdie Lies

~ Nikki's POV ~

I rummaged the kitchen cupboards and fridge for something to eat and I was glad to see a whole bunch of bananas sitting on the kitchen counter. I grabbed the ripest one and ate it while sitting on a stool. People always complained about bananas - they're too mushy, they look like a penis, blah, blah, blah! I would never be able to comprehend that crap. I loved bananas.

There were a few minutes left till six so Drew would be here soon to take me to the game. I was home by myself - Kyle was at work, Jace had left after he dropped me home, and Liam was with Hailey, performing for a bachelor's party.

I was just about to turn on the TV when a horn honked outside the house.

I really had to stop calling this place a house, it was my home now.

I grabbed my purse and the floorboards creaked as I walked towards the door dressed in a white polo and black denim shorts. Thankfully, Jace had done some shopping for me while I was at school. I closed the door behind me and locked it with the spare key that had been given to me by Jace.

Drew's shiny black Volkswagen really did contrast with the dead grass on our lawn.

I stepped into the nude leather interior of the car and was greeted by Drew. Brielle, and Finn singing to Justin Bieber, attempting to mock him.

Why did Justin Bieber get so much hate? I still don't know the answer. I just don't listen to him.

"Baby, baby..." Dear lord, people still weren't over this song.

"Change the station! Please!" I said, putting my hands over my ears to cover the unpleasant noise.

"I don't think so." Drew said. "After all, it is my car." He smirked.

So, I had to bear with these bunch of clown for ten minute ride, which seemed to take three times longer than usually.

It was 6:25 when we reached the game and Drew had rushed off onto the freshly mowed field to begin warming up with his team mates. I had noticed that only a couple of guys greeted Drew with their signature handshake and I couldn't help but think that it was all because of me. Brielle interrupted my thoughts because of her cravings for a hotdog and Coke. Once we received our orders, Brielle grabbed the yellow bottle and red bottles and went crazy with the mustard and ketchup.

"Oh my god, Nikki?" I didn't have to turn around to know that it was Julie. "Have you already paid for that hotdog. If not, then I can pay for you. Daddy gave me a couple of hundred dollars to spend tonight." My blood boiled through my entire body when I heard the giggles and snickers of Julie's friends.

"No, thank you." My voice was evidently sarcastic. "I have money that I have earned from work and every if I do run out of money, I've got friends." I wished Drew and Finn were here right now so that I had more people to gesture to rather that just to Brielle.

"Look, darl," Nikki stepped forward and took my hand in hers, in order to fake affection in front of her friends. "Everyone misses you at home-"

"Whatever, Julie." I moved her hand off of mine. "The game is about to start." With that, Brielle and I walked away towards the stands to get a seat.

We found Finn sitting in the second front row and sat with him. As soon as we took a seat, the other students made their way to the other other stands, away from us.

"Hey, where's my hotdog." Finn pouted, attempting to lighten up the mood.

"There's people selling them in a little stand thingy near the entrance so yeah..." I laughed at Brielle's response, it was funny how the relationship between Finn and her was casual and not clingy like half of the other school couples.
