Sa halip na galit ang maramdaman, I left that place feeling sad and disappointed, at alam ko na mas malala ‘yon. Malungkot ako at disappointed because I have expected better. I had hoped for a good outcome, but for now, the personalities of my birth parents are a lost cause.

Before my brother ride the private plane, we hugged each other for quite some time to the point na si Trouble na mismo ang nagpaalala na hindi na pwedeng madelay pa ang flight. Aeon was trying to control his tears pero sa huli nanaig ang luha. Assuring my brother that the next visit would be soon, he finally entered the plane without complains.

Right now, I’m in a car with Knidn, watching the greenery of this forested portion of the island-country. Unlike my first days with them, tinanggal na ang utos na kailangan ako’y naka-blind fold because the certainty that I’ll be joining the Emperor’s Mafia Mafiglia is hundred percent assured.

There are three types of soldiers: Foot, Admiral, and The Seven, arranged from the lowest to the highest level, mas marami ang mga foot soldiers compared the other two levels. Van Helsing had told me, normally, those who managed to be foot soldiers would celebrate na para bang nanalo sila ng lotto but I am far from a normal case.

The Emperor forced me into participating apparently because having a family inside would help him be more human. Kahit hindi man niya aminin, he’s worried about turning into a monster. A pure monster.

It doesn’t help that there were people like my parents whom at some point became part of his life.

This afternoon is another batch of lesson focusing on target shooting according to Roland.

“What do you think of the Emperor, Knidn?” tanong ko. He looked at me, eyes no longer on the road, and yet, he could still drive without issues.

There’s curiosity on his green eyes because of my question. He answered, “The Emperor is a hard, cold, and intelligent man. He doesn’t let anything or anyone distracts him once he have a goal in mind. He eliminate enemies depending on the degree of the potential damage they could cause. He’s unapologetic.

The Emperor is…very efficient when it comes to business.”

“And that business is making people disappear. Literally if necessary, right?”

Tumango si Knidn. His eyes went back to the road pero nang mukhang may naalala, lumingon ulit siya sa akin at sinabing, “He’s slightly different with you.”

Napatawa ako. There’s no real joy on it. If the Emperor is being slightly lenient with me, that’s because of my relationship with Tita Lin.

“No, he’s the same. Remember, he slapped me, hard, with no hesitation.”

Eyes back on the road, sumagot si Knidn, “If he didn’t remember you’re his niece, he would have done worse.”

Nang naalala ko ang sinabi niya back then, I reached for his shoulder placing a gentle pat on it, saying,

“And if you didn’t make him remember, it would be really worse. Maraming salamat nga pala for what you did back then, Knidn.”

Staring back at me, he gently grabbed my hand on his shoulders holding it tight enough.

“I’m sorry if I let him hit you.” he said, guilt evident on his tone.

Don’t blame yourself. Hindi ikaw ang sumapak sa akin.”

“Still I could have prevented it from happening—“

“I understand what your position entails, Knidn.”

“I love you, Zony.”

This person is probably the most open person in my life. He never let me forget that he feels this way, if not through actions, then through words.

My mouth closed and opened just the way it did every time he would say the same words and I lose the ability to reply.

Chuckling as he watched my reaction, he raised my hand enveloped by his own to his lips, and then Prince Knidn De Silva kissed my knuckles.

“I told you,” sambit niya, “You don’t need to provide an answer.” The smile he gave me could light up the dark during a cold, winter night. “Letting me love you is enough.” dagdag ng lalaking mahal ako.
