The One To Save You || Luke Hemmings

Chapter 3:

Rose's P.O.V. -

After French with Calum and Michael, I had science.

I should add that I'm advanced in science. I don't know how. My dad was an accountant and my mom is an English teacher in a middle school near my old house. But my dad being an accountant explains me being advanced in math, too.

I walked into science between the first bell and the late bell, and one golden, curly head stuck out to me...

"ASHTONNNNN!" I yelled. I was so happy!

He turned around from his conversation and ran to hug me.

I'm getting so many hugs today.

We decided to be lab partners since I didn't know anyone else in the class.

The period went by pretty fast since we were having so much fun together.

Next I had lunch. I didn't really know anybody, but thankfully Abigail brought me to sit at the table with her friends. A few of them were in my gym class, but others I didn't recognize. But just like Abigail, they were all beautiful.

I didn't belong there.

But since I had no where else to sit, I stayed there for today.

After lunch I had advanced math.

I walked into the class and noticed someone who caught my eye. The same boy who caught my eye this morning.

The tall blonde.

He was even more stunning up close. But I tried to stay cool and I took a seat next to some random kid in the front.

The mystery blonde boy didn't look at me.

Not to be self-centered, but he's the first person today who hasn't looked at me.

I got myself through math without drooling over him and I walked to my last period of the day; history.

I walked in and sat next to Calum. I told him about how I met all the members of his band, and he replied with "even Luke?"

Well I didn't remember anyone named Luke, so I said no.

"Well than you haven't met everyone in my band." he laughed. "There's four of us; I play bass, Michael and Luke play guitar, and Ashton plays drums. And we all add vocals."

Well now I had to find out who this Luke kid was. I hoped he was as nice and as good looking as the rest of his band, or that would ruin everything.

At the end of the day, I got on the bus and sat next to Ashton. I told him all about how I met almost all the members in his band and he told me about how much he missed me throughout the day.

That's so sweet of him.

I walked home and greeted Delilah. Then I got a text from Abigail:
A: "hey Ro. wanna hang at my house today?"

I didn't have anything to do, so I said sure and that I'd ride my skateboard over. She gave me her address and I headed out the door. But of course I had Delilah with me. I didn't wanna leave her alone for too long.

Delilah was pulling my skateboard in the direction towards her house. I told her when to turn and when to stay straight.

I was looking down at my phone texting Abby (she calls me Ro, I call her Abby) when I suddenly felt something hit me and I fell off my skateboard with a thud.

I looked around to see what had caused me to fall.

But it wasn't a what - it was a who.

The tall blonde boy from school was laying on the sidewalk next to me rubbing his head.

"Sorry mate." he explained. "I was too busy looking at this damn phone rather than paying attention to where I was going." he chuckled. It was hot.

"Well so was I." I laughed, getting up and trying to ignore the burning feeling in my knee. I looked down and saw that my left knee was scratched up just enough to bleed a bit.

But I'm a strong girl, so I walked it off.

But the blonde boy caught sight of my bleeding leg, and apologized more times than was needed.

"I'm Luke by the way." he added. "Luke Hemmings."

"I'm Rose Tomsen." I said for what felt like the millionth time today.

We talked for about 5 minutes before we exchanged numbers and made a plan to hang out at the local Starbucks tomorrow.

"Well, I better get going." I said, suddenly remembering my trip to Abigail's house.

"See ya tomorrow, babe." he said.

And then he hugged me.

I get that it's a normal thing for Aussies to call each other 'babe'. It's just a natural part of our vocabulary. But the way he hugged me. It was to tight. And since he was so tall, I fit perfectly into his arm and got a perfect whiff of his scent.

He smelled really good.

I got back onto my skateboard and Delilah and I finished our trek to Abby's house.
