The One To Save You || Luke Hemmings

Chapter 8:

Rose's P.O.V. -

Band practice with the boys went great. We were all laughing and joking around a lot, but then they really had to practice, so I sat and watched.

They played "Out Of My Limit", one of their originals. They all played/sang so well.

Especially Luke.

I couldn't take my eyes off of him.

Every once in a while, he'd look up at me, smile, and then keep playing.

When the song ended, I clapped and cheered louder than I ever had.

*flash forward to Friday night*

Rose's P.O.V. -

Our 2 week winter break just started, but I wasn't going to do any celebrating the first night.

Abigail invited me to a party at her friend's house, but they were all college kids and I wasn't ready to meet that many new people.

So, I was sitting at home in my pjs, Delilah sitting on my lap. We were on the couch watching "Mean Girls" for the millionth time, when all of a sudden, my doorbell rang.

I tried to quickly brush through my hair with my fingers before answering the door.

"Luke?" I asked him. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at a party with your band mates?"

"No, I'd rather spend the first night of break with you." he said, smiling cheekily.

He's so cute. Agh.

"Well then come inside." I said, opening the door wider.

It's the first time he's been here, and I wasn't ready for a visitor, but whatever. He knows I live alone and that I don't feel like cleaning.

We sat on the couch for a while, awkwardly not knowing what to do, until I spoke up. "Wanna watch a movie?"

"Sure! Let's watch 'The Notebook'."

Well that was a strange movie for him to suggest. I mean, he is a 16 year old boy. But I agreed.

During the movie, he kept on fidgeting around. He would awkwardly lay his head on my lap, then realize how weird that was, and then sit straight up. Then he'd get uncomfortable sitting that way and put his feet on my lap. He stayed that way for a while. I was starting to get a bit tired, and my eyes were closing on and off. Luke must've noticed, cause he said to me, "Ro, do you wanna lay on me?"

I laughed at his awkwardness, and answered his questions without words. I just turned around and laying my head on his shoulders.

He wrapped his arms around me to make sure I was warm and comfortable.

I could stay like this forever. It was just the two of us. It was quiet, but not an awkward silence. It was peaceful. Then he broke that silence.

"Rosie.." he started. "Do you believe in love at first sight, like Noah and Allie?"

(A/N- In case you've never seen The Notebook, Noah and Allie are the cute couple who fell in love at first sight and grew old and died together. <3)

Did Luke Hemmings actually just ask me that? Why?

"Do you?" I managed to stutter out.

"I do. I've seen it happen so many times, and I think that when you see the right person, you just know that with them, everything will be perfect. You know?"

"Yeahh. I guess I believe in it to." I confessed.

We talked a bit more about how cute Noah and Allie were, and what our own perfect dream relationship would be like.

I told Luke that I thought that when boys asked girls out in a creative way, it made the girl fall in love with him even more. I wish someone would do that to me.

I started drifting asleep, still wrapped in Luke's arms...
