The One To Save You || Luke Hemmings

Chapter 11:

Luke's P.O.V. -

While we were walking back to Ash's apartment, we talked about stupid stuff we did when we were younger.

I told Rosie about the time I was pumpkin picking with my family and when I stepped on a pumpkin, my foot fell right through and I was stuck!

"Oh my gosh Luke!" she sqealed out while laughing hysterically.

She told me about a time she was getting icecream with her dad and they both got a cone with chocolate icecream. Rose accidentally dropped her icecream onto her lap, leaving a huge brown stain on her skirt. Her dad, so that she didn't feel bad, did the same exact thing on himself to make her laugh.

By the way she told that story, it seemed like she loved her dad a lot.

"Rose, did you love your dad before he... you know..." I felt bad just saying it.

"Its okay Luke. You can say that he died. I know that he did. And yes, I loved him more than anything. He was my best friend. But sadly, there are some twisted people in this world."

I had no clue what she meant, so of course, i asked her.

"I never told you? My dad was killed in a shooting at his job. I know that he didn't die peacefully, but I hope that, wherever he is, that now he's peaceful."

She was crying now, and I stopped walking and hugged her. I hugged her really tight, making sure she knew I was here for her. Seeing her sad like this makes me feel terrible.

"Shhh. Stop crying, Ro. Everything's gonna be okay." I tried to calm her down the best I could.

"No Luke, no it's not! My dad is dead. And I miss him so much. There's nothing you can do to bring him back!" She was yelling at me as if I was the one who killed her dad.

But I had to stay calm, for her.

"Listen Rosie, I know I can't do anything about that. But you're not alone anymore. You have Abigail with you. You have Michael, Ashton, and Calum with you. But most of all, you have me. i'm right here for you, and I'm not going anywhere. I promise you. You won't have to be alone anymore."

She hugged me so tight, I thought she was really going to crush me.

"Thank you so much Luke. I don't deserve someone as great as you." she said to me, barely in a whisper.

"Let's keep walking. You need a good night's sleep in a nice, warm apartment."

Rose's P.O.V. -

Luke is the sweetest person I've ever met. I hope I never lose him.

He says things that replay in my mind every night before I go to bed.

I hugged him as tight as I could, and I honestly didn't want to let go. The way i fit perfectly into his arms - it's like we were made for each other.

Friends, I mean...

Right now, we're finishing our walk to Ashton's apartment.

When we walked in, we saw Calum sleeping on the mini couch, so we assumed Michael and Ashton were sleeping upstairs. Being that only Ashton lives here, there's not many places to sleep, so Luke and I just slept on the bigger couch.

He made sure I was comfortable before he got settled in.

We were laying down on the couch, watching whatever show was on.

It turned out to be 'American Horror Story'. I've heard of it plenty of times, but I've never seen it.

And now that I have, I'm scared to death.

I tensed up and hid my face in Luke's shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me and whispered in my ear, "Don't worry, Ro. I'm right here. I'll protect you."

I smiled at him. He smiled back down at me.

He has the cutest dimples I've ever seen.

I started to drift to sleep, leaning on Luke's shoulder.

He still had his arm around me, and we fell asleep peacefully just like that.
