It all happened so fast.
"You are worthless! I don't want you in my house any longer!"
I had a home, a family. I thought I was loved.
"About time you get rid of this brat."
Next thing I know they're taking me away to live somewhere else because my parents didn't want me anymore.
"Don't worry sweety. Everything will be alright."
The nice policewoman held me as I cried. I don't cry very often but this time it felt like my heart was shredded to pieces.
"We're going to take you somewhere safe."
I got in the back seat and they drove me to the airport. I got sent to a small suburban town called Arcadia Oaks.
"Things will get better, I promise."
One of the local policemen drove me to a house. Then he parked the car at the curb and I followed him to the door.
"Don't worry, you're going to love it here."
How can you all be so sure that my life will change?
How do I know you aren't lying to me as my father lied about loving me?
How do I know you won't turn around and run the second you get the chance?
I don't know.
I don't think I even care anymore.
I wanted to be loved.
But now... I just don't want to feel anything.
