Felicity's POV

I stare in curiosity at the house in front of me as we pull up in the driveway. We're here. I am here.

I see a beautiful two storey house with shades of white and brown covering it all over. It has a grilling walnut porch that stands out amongst the whole structure. There's a vaulted wood garage on the left side of the house. I smile to myself hoping this place will be it for us.

"It's so nice" I hear my younger sister Affinity squeal from behind me while jumping into my brother's arms. She's one chipper lassie. Yes, I've stayed in London for a while.

"Yes I would totally blast Avicii in there" Francis says from beside me with Nity in his arms. Well, that's my twin brother for you.

"Shut up Francis. No one is blasting any music in this house. No late night parties, you understand?" my mom says talking to my brother but looking for something in her handbag.

Fran just rolls his eyes. He's the kind of person who enjoys every moment of his life and really doesn't care what others think about it. He's also a really good listener. Actually, the only person I can talk to.

I don't know about my family but standing here looking at this house in front me makes me feel like there's an adventure waiting for me out there. Like I've left all the bad memories behind and my life is about to change. For good I hope.

***

I'm in my new room and I've changed into a maroon sweatshirt and black sweatpants. We've been unpacking the whole afternoon after showering and I'm on my last box right now.

Fran's room in across from mine in the hallway and mom, dad and Nity have taken the downstairs' rooms. There's a nice and warm fireplace downstairs and a spacious kitchen. This house is definitely better than the last one. Nity and I used to share a bedroom back in Jacksonville.

I am hanging up some posters above the study table near my window when I hear a knock on my door.

"Come in" I say and I see dad enter my room.

"Hey dad" I smile at him. He smiles right back at me and sits on the corner of my bed with his hands behind his back. He's holding something like a wooden plate and I might have an idea what that is.

"Hey City. Done unpacking?" he asks smiling cheekily at me.

"Almost. I'm done with the wardrobe and stationery. Just hanging up some posters. What about you and mom? Are you guys done yet?" I ask knowing he wasn't helping with the unpacking all this time.

"Mom's done doing that for the both of us and now she's helping Nity. I on the other hand was doing something else" he grins widely and takes out the wooden piece from behind him and I smile instantly when I see what it is.

It's a name plate for our new house. It's a beautiful piece of maple wood with THE REED'S  written on it.

"It's amazing dad. As always, you never fail to give your touch to the architecture of the house". He's an architect and I'm really proud of him. That's how I know so much about the types of wood and stones that are used in houses.

"Thank you pumpkin. So, you excited for your new school? New life? New everything" he asks me nervously.

I look down at my hands avoiding his gaze for a few seconds. But before he can sense that I'm upset, I give him a reassuring smile.

"Yes. I'm all set. And I'm hoping we'll settle soon here" I give him an assuring smile again. Something I do very often when I want to avoid conversations.

"That's good. Come down for dinner when you're done" he says and leaves with the name plate in his hands.

My school - Hillcrest High starts day after tomorrow. Francis and I are both juniors and I almost laugh at myself thinking I'm gonna have to spend my junior and senior year in the same school.

Maybe I really am looking forward to this life.
