With a frustrated sigh, Stephen angrily tosses the blankets aside and rises to his feet.

The floor was cold to his feet even though the room was quite warm.

It was the first time Stephen had to leave the house for a work trip since his son, August,   was born and he hated it.

He wanted to be there for his wife when August was fussy during the night so he could help her get him back to sleep.

He wanted to be there for her when August wasn't eating properly, he wanted to be there for her so he could make August laugh and have a good time, he just wanted to be there by her side but instead, he was stuck on a stupid trip.

It was hard for y/n to communicate to Stephen as a fussy baby always had her busy, time zones didn't really help and Stephen had loads of meetings and practices so Y/N didn't want to interrupt him.

Stephen ran his hand through his hair and then grabbed a shirt on his way to the balcony, he slid the door open and leaned on the cold rail, his distraught eyes not really seeing the starry sky as he fidgeted with his phone in his hand. He dialed your number.
He imagined you curled up on the couch watching the boring reality tv shows you usually watch, having a break whilst August was napping.

You picked up on the second ring. "Hey, is everything alright? Isn't it past midnight there?"  You asked slightly worried.

"Yea it's around two-ish" Stephen replied.

"Babe, don't you have a practice in the morning?" You asked.

"Yea at nine"

"Why did you call my love?" You ask.

"I just... I just wanted to hear your voice. I can't sleep" he sighed " it's the first time away since August was born and I just feel homesick" he replied making you feel sad.

"Aww baby, don't worry it's only two more days you can do it" she replied "here tell you what why don't you get in bed and we will talk until you fall asleep, yeah?" you ask.

"That sounds great" he replied.

"Besides I'm free now that August is taking a nap"

"Haha, I guessed that," Stephen said getting in bed after sliding the door shut and you continue to talk until Stephen is fast asleep.

It felt nice to be his peace.
