3rd person P.O.V
Stephen and Laura have been dating since they were in high school they have always been the couple everybody wants to be. Laura even moved to California with Stephen when he got drafted, they are inseparable. Laura has supported Steph through his whole career always pushing him to be a better ballplayer and person. Through their entire relationship they've been building each other up, their relationship truly feels perfect, sure they have a little argument here and there but they never let it affect their love for each other. They got their first apartment together in California after Stephen got drafted, they couldn't handle being apart, shortly after they got engaged. Laura goes to every home game, always supporting her man.
They had their routine of after the game, Laura waits outside the locker room and then they leave, walking to their car hand and hand.
No matter how busy their days have been they have that moment together on their drive home and it meant a lot to the both of them.
After Stephen had been in the league for two years he started to get into the partying lifestyle, it didn't get bad till his third year in the league. He would come home at 4 AM hardly saw Laura anymore, was very snappy due to the lack of sleep and help of alcohol.
It slowly got to her as he was changing from the man she fell in love with years ago. His eyes were darker, his voice was more stern, his heartfelt colder. They went from cuddling watching Netflix every night to Laura waiting for a response for the text she sent him hours ago, wondering if he's coming home tonight or not. She felt so lonely without Stephen there by her side for the first time since she was 16.Laura's P.O.V
It is currently 3 am, which has become my new normal, it's Friday I'm laying in bed and Stephen is out partying with some friends which isn't anything new.
I've texted him about a dozen times and have gotten a whole zero replies, which again, nothing new. I don't know how much longer I can keep up with this lifestyle, everybody thinks I live the glamorous life of Stephen Curry's girlfriend like it's all sunshine and rainbows but little do they know what goes on in times like this.
After laying in bed for three hours I could hear Stephen stumble through the door.
"Baby" I could hear Stephen yell from the kitchen, he obviously has been drinking.
I didn't respond I just waited for him to walk into our bedroom.
"Oh, I thought you were sleeping," Stephen said surprised.
"So that's why you came in yelling?" I didn't feel the need to hide I was upset.
"Wow, what's with the attitude?"
"You can not be serious right now Stephen" I looked at him like he was psychotic, which at that moment I thought he might be.
"What is your problem I just got home"
"Exactly you just got home AT SIX IN THE MORNING"
When I started yelling he was a little taken back.
"I don't see the problem since I've been doing this for a while now"
"That's the problem! You have been coming home at 4 and 5 am for months now. I am so sick and tired of sitting here waiting for you to walk in here drunk smelling like every hoe in the bar!"
"Oh whatever," he said rolling his eyes "you signed up for this. You knew what it was gonna be like to date an NBA star. For all, I know you're just here for the money!"
"Absolutely Stephen I've been here since you were 17 just hoping and praying I can get your checks. You got me"
"Don't get sarcastic with me now. You started this"
"Yea my bad this is my fault. This is all on me. Not you because you're just as perfect as it gets right?" I started standing up from the bed as the argument got more heated.
"Why do you have to be like this! I didn't do anything wrong but no you have to go make something out of nothing because we can't just have one peaceful night around here without you complaining about something! This is why I like being at the bar! I can be around a woman who can just have a good time with me instead of making everything a problem!"
I looked into his eyes for a couple of seconds before I numbly spoke.
"I'm done."
Steph quickly lost the anger in his eyes as he turned soft
"...wait what?."
"I can't keep doing this anymore...you're just not the same anymore...this life changed you."
I slowly took my engagement ring off while looking at the floor.
"Y-you can't be serious right now Laura..it's just a little argument... I'm sorry okay? We are fine"
he tried to put his arms around me before I walked back so he couldn't touch me.
"Baby please look at me we can't just end like this. We've come too far."
"We do this every night...I can't spend the rest of my life screaming with you just to get nowhere...."
A tear slipped from Stephen's eyes as he was speechless at that moment.
"Please" Stephen whispered as he felt his heartbreaking.
Laura shook her head as she walked past him and out the door making sure to not make eye contact.
Laura got in her car and started crying with her hands on the top of her head.
Stephen standing in the same place she left him, broken.
