Jacob's POV
"Uncle Jakey, Uncle Jakey, Uncle Jakey, Uncle Jakey," Maya said jumping on my bed as I groaned and opened my eyes. "Up, up, up," she said still jumping up and down. I captured her into my arms and brought her down making her stay still and holding her like a teddy bear. "Uncle Jakey," she said through her giggle as I laughed.
"Shhh...sleep," I said as she continued to giggle.
"But it's Christmas Uncle Jakey...everyone's waiting downstairs for us to open gifts and drink hot chocolate and that awful stuff you call coffee." I laughed and kissed the back of her head.
"Alright let's go then," I stood up and stretched and then she stood up on the bed and smiled at me.
"Piggy back ride," she said with an even bigger smile. I shook my head laughing slightly and stood beside the bed as she wrapped her arms around my neck and jumped on my back. "Love you Uncle Jakey," she whispered in my ear and then kissed my cheek.
"Love you to Maya," she giggled, as I started walking and then ran down the stairs making her laugh even more. We made it to the others, as they looked at us funny, "did someone lose a child." I looked over at Andy as they laughed, I set Maya down on the couch as she giggled again and made me sit beside her.
"Thank you Uncle Jakey."
"Your very much welcome," I said as I moved my hand on her hair messing it up.
"Here Maya this one's for you," Marcus passed her a box as she smiled and started opening it. Her face lit up in a huge smile as she pulled out a pair of heels and I already knew who they were from. She slid them on her feet and then started running around laughing as she heard them clicking on the hard wood floor.
"Maya you mess up my floors and I'll get ya," my mom said as she laughed slightly then handed me a box. "This is addressed to you," I took the box then opened it up pulling out a photo album, as I grew confused. I opened it up seeing a letter but I skipped it and started looking at the album seeing the picture's I had taken when Ashlyn and I went on our walk back in New York. I kept flipping until finally all the pictures were done...there was still half an album here that was blank but the last page had two pictures on it the first was her which was the picture I took and the second was the one she took of me which actually wasn't that bad. I sighed and closed the book now setting it on the couch and walked away although I knew it fell off because I heard a bang but continued to walk off.
Maya's POV
I came back to the couch and picked up the book after Uncle Jakey waked off, I set the book on the couch and grabbed something that had fallen to the floor. It was a letter...I folded it up and placed it in my pocket, I started running around again as everyone laughed at me. I then ran off to my room where I climbed onto my bed and opened the letter I'm four years old and can't read that well yet but I tried my best. I sighed understanding some of it and then I took my heels off and ran off back down stairs. I looked in the living room and didn't see Uncle Jakey so I walked around till I found him in the kitchen. He was sitting on one of the stools and drinking some coffee out of a mug as he looked out the window, I walked over to him and poked his side as he looked down at me. I slightly smiled and raised my arms so he would understand what I wanted. Although he was sad Uncle Jakey always did anything for me...he was my best friend, he picked me up and sat me on his lap as I looked at him.
"I did something you won't like...and you might be mad at me for," I said as he looked at me confused.
"What did you do," he asked almost in a whisper as if he was already upset about the whole Ashlyn situation already.
"I-I-I read your letter...from Ashlyn," I took the letter out of my pocket and set it on the counter unfolded. "I know I shouldn't have but I did and I'm really really sorry...I understand if your mad at me but I love you Uncle Jakey," I kissed his cheek and then got off his lap and walked away leaving him alone in the kitchen again with the letter.
Jacob's POV
Maya is four and she's already to smart for her age, I sighed as she walked off and looked at the note knowing that's why she left it there. I set me coffee cup down and picked up the note now reading it not really knowing why but I was curious.
Jake
I know we made a deal and I'm sorry that I couldn't stick to it...you have an amazing family and it's not fare that I stand there lying to them like that. They deserve better Jake...I know it's not my business but I can tell that your parents are proud of you any parents would be if they had you as a son...you've accomplished so much in such a short time. I know a photo album is probably the stupidest gift you've ever gotten but I want you to remember the walk we went on...it was the best part of staying with you. Continue with your work and be who you are...you don't need a girlfriend to make your parents happy...because even I can see that they are proud of you and yes I know I'm repeating myself but it's the truth. I'm sorry that I lied about myself but I swear everything I said was true except my fathers occupation...I'm sorry I told you to trust again and yet I broke that trust. Don't be afraid to trust people...don't let what I did to you stand in the way of trusting others. Again I'm sorry and thank you for everything you've done for me especially the hot chocolates.
Ashlyn...
I sighed now placing the letter back on the counter and looked around the room, she was right about everything and truthfully I wasn't really mad at her. If I had put myself in her shoes I would of done the exact same thing, I was hoping she wasn't out in the cold. I walked back to the living room where everyone was, I sat down on the couch and placed Maya on my lap and kept my arms wrapped around her as I kissed the temple of her head.
"I could never be mad at you Maya," I whispered in her ear as she smiled and leaned against my chest now watching as everyone opened gifts. She stayed in my lap the whole time and I let her help me open my gifts as she continued to giggle and smile the whole time.
