Demi's POV

I ran down the stairs tying my robe as I walked into the kitchen making Jake look at me confused for a second as I just glared at him.

"I'm sensing that you're pissed at something," he said as I shook my head and crossed my arms.

"Oh you know I've never actually shown you my anger side but it's gettin' there," I took in a deep breath and calmed myself down. "Do you remember two days ago how we talked and I told you the shower in my room wasn't working properly so we'd have to make a phone call to get someone in here to fix it."

"Yeah I remember...I'm not old I don't forget that easily."

"Alright...then do you remember not making a phone call like you promise you would," he went to speak but then stopped and shook his head.

"I forgot," I giggled slightly and shook my head as I sat on a stool in the kitchen. "I'll call someone to fix it now so you can take a shower," I waved my hand and sighed.

"Don't bother I just used yours," he arched his eyebrows as I giggled again and shook my head. "Dude I lived to long with dirt on my face that I'm not going to wait to have a shower even if it is only for another day," he nodded and leaned against the counter.

"I'll still make the call...other wise I'll forget."

"Uh huh...this coming from the guy who just said he's not old and doesn't forget that easily," he laughed and nodded his head.

"I got caught up in some of my photography stuff," I nodded and laughed slightly.

"Of course you did," I said through a giggle. "Did you at least get something good," he shrugged and took in a deep breath.

"Yeah sorta...I don't know I think my photography skills are decreasing though...it's kinda scaring me a bit." I stood up and walked over to him as he sighed, "I don't know what it is I just...I can't seem to capture things as great anymore."

"How long has this been going on," I asked as he thought about it for a minute.

"I don't know...a couple weeks I guess."

"So I can't say it's because you're sick...maybe your mind is just distracted by something," he took in a deep breath and shrugged again.

"Maybe," I nodded and then backed up a bit.

"So I'm gonna go...to bed...yeah to bed, I'll see you in the morning," he nodded as I walked off and ran up the stairs to my room shutting the door behind me as I let out a breath of relief that I didn't know I was holding. It was weird how things could go from comfortable to uncomfortable in a matter of seconds, I walked over to my closet and changed into some Pj's before crawling into bed and trying to catch some sleep. It was weird how things changed since we got back here, Christmas was amazing and then we got here and all Jake and I had was weird moments especially at night...it was different.

Normal POV

Flashback to Christmas Day

Jake and Ashlyn walked into the house wiping some of the snow out of there hair as Maya smiled and ran over to them instantly wrapping her arms around Ashlyn's legs.

"Thank god...I missed you so much...please please please please please don't ever leave again," Ashlyn giggled slightly and bent down to Maya's level as she smiled at her.

"I'm not going anywhere I promise...I need someone to play cards with," she giggled and hugged Ashlyn again as Joe laughed and shook his head. They took their coats and boots off and walked to the living room.

"Look who I found," Jake said as she waved slightly.

"Uhhh...hey," she said nervous again just like she had been when she first arrived here. Mrs. Andrews walked over to her wrapping her arm around her shoulder.

"Well Ashlyn...I believe you know everyone," Ashlyn smiled and nodded her head. "So are you staying for dinner then?"

"If that's alright...I don't want to intrude," Mrs. Andrews laughed and shook her head as she let go of Ashlyn.

"You're staying for dinner," she said as Ashlyn giggled and sat on the couch beside Jake as Maya sat on his lap. "So where did you go...we were pretty worried about you after Jake told us everything."

"Yeah...I sorta walked about ten blocks and talked to my dad,"  noticed Mr. Andrews tense up as she sighed. "He's different...I've never seen him so tense but he's definitely different it kinda scares me a bit," Ashlyn said through a giggle as Andy and David walked in.

"Oh hey Ash...how are you," Ashlyn shrugged her shoulders as Maya giggled.

"I'm doing pretty good actually...I definitely have Jake and you guys to thank for everything."

"We didn't really do anything Ashie," Marcus said as he sat forward.

"You've done a lot more then you think you have trust me," Ashlyn said and then looked at Maya who had a confused expression on her face.

"Wait if you and Uncle Jakey weren't really dating he was just helping you out then why were you kissing him the other day...cause daddy said that only people that are in love should kiss...I know because I like this boy in my class and he asked if he could kiss my cheek and I told him no and he got sad so I kissed his cheek and then daddy said that four year olds shouldn't be kissing yet." Everyone laughed at Maya slightly as she shook her head. "Anyways back to my point...why were you kissing Uncle Jakey if you're not in love," Ashlyn looked at Jake as he cleared his throat and looked at Maya.

"Well we wanted you guys to believe that we were in love cause I felt as though your grandma and grandpa weren't proud of me," Maya took in a deep breath and looked at Ashlyn again.

"So it was all pretending then...you guys aren't actually in love...you're just friends," Ashlyn and Jake nodded as Maya sighed. "I think I liked it better when you were pretending," she whispered but everyone still heard as she got off Jake's lap and walked off.

"Did I just disappoint a four year old," Jake said as everyone slightly nodded. "I'll...I'll go talk to her," he said standing up but Ashlyn stopped him.

"I'll go talk to her," he looked at her for a second before nodding his head slightly and letting Ashlyn walk off as she met up with Maya in the kitchen. She was sitting on a stool with her hands leaned on the counter as she sat there slightly moving her feet back and forth. "Hey Maya...would you like to play go fish," she shook her head as Maya sighed and sat beside her. "What are you doing you should be with us in the living room enjoying Christmas."

"I'm pouting...apparently when adults pout they sit in here by themselves and think...I don't know about what but they do," I arched my eyebrows and looked at her as she took in a deep breath.

"Alright...well then how about I fill you in on a secret...but you can't tell anyone you have to keep it to yourself...do you think you can do that," Maya looked at Ashlyn as a smile stretched across her face.

"Alright I promise...the secret will remain between you and me," Ashlyn nodded and sat forward and whispered.

"I really like your Uncle Joey...and maybe the kisses we shared were to hide our secret but I do like him a lot," Maya giggled and nodded her head.

"Don't you mean you love my Uncle Jakey," Ashlyn smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

"I think that's what I mean...he makes my heart raise a thousand times faster every time I'm near him," She smiled and nodded her head.

"Your secrets safe with me," she whispered as Ashlyn smiled. "Let's go back to the living room now and play go fish," Ashlyn nodded and followed her out as she continued to smile.
