Chapter 014

Expedition

Two days after I woke up and fully healed, Commander Eric gathered us all together, explaining why we will have an expedition outside the walls. Me, Yukan, and Amir are really excited because this is the first time we'll step out of the walls. Since we were kids, I always encourage them to sneak behind the survey corps and climb the wall, but later on, I found out it was too risky and difficult. "Are you guys excited?" I asked them as we pick out our horses. They both nodded in agreement before riding out horses, meeting everyone infront of the fixed gate of Tybrum. Everyone was wearing hoodies and have their ODM gear with them. "Listen up! This is the 52nd expedition of the outside world. We don't know what's coming and waiting for us behind this walls. I'm just here to remind everyone to be prepared." He said as everyone answers him with a yes. I overheard Hanes and captain Lev's conversation beside me, which made me laugh. "I'm so excited! I'm finally going to encounter some titans outside the walls! What if I encountered an abnormal one?" Hanes said with excitement present in her voice. And then captain Lev butted in. This is the part where I lose it. "There's already one here. And that's you." I nudge Amir, but he just look at me with a confused expression. He must've not heard it. Soon, Commander Eric told them to open the gates. This is it. There's no turning back. We all exit the gate together, with Hanes explaining the positions we're having. She divided us into groups of 3. The first group is led by Amir. The second one, which is where I am belong, was led by captain Lev. And the third one with Commander Eric. Me and Yukan was divided into two, that means I am with captain Lev and his friends. As we seperate, a middle aged man starts talking to me about how captain Lev killed half of the titan population near the walls in the past few years. That's why the king decided to name one of the district under his name. Captain Lev just scoffed and told him to shut up and focus on the mission. Our mission is to plot a new course to the Trouis district. Maybe to recruit some comrades?

Meanwhile, the Commander, Eric has been suspecting something. That a titan spy with powers similar to Jiro is currently with them or the other groups. He noticed this since the last two titans they saw with powers similar to Jiro, was also shifters and has a plan. But he just kept it for himself. On the other team, Amir, alongside 2 other survey scouts has been suspecting like there's someone watching them as well. "Amir, are you alright?" One of the scouts asked. Amir just smiled before continuing their expedition. "Hey, do you hear that shit?" Harold, one of the scouts asked as they slow their paced down. Amir looks back at them, worried of what they are hearing. "It's just birds, Harold. The titans are too far away from us." Jeffrey said, disregarding the other's comment. But as time passed by, they felt the ground rumbling, like there's something big running. The three of them hurried, before Harold saw something from the horizon. "Is that a... titan?" He asked as he tries to get a clearer view. Then there it is, a titan running towards them. "Shit! Arlert, you should warn them! We'll take care of this." Jeffrey said before firing a wire on to the titan's arm. Amir quickly escaped the titan. He can't believe it with his own eyes. "That titan looks like an abnormal one, but why does it move faster than-." His thoughts were cut off when he saw one of the horses flying to the air. Probably thrown by the titan. He was a good distance between the titan. His face was covered in horror as he sees it destroying the two scouts. He stared at it for a few seconds before the titan starts running towards his direction. He commanded the horse to move faster, praying that he wouldn't get killed. But luck was not on his side. Eventually, the titan caught up to him. It towering over him. "I'm gonna die. This is it." He looks up at the titan to get a clearer view of it's face, but it was covered with hair. He closed his eyes, waiting for the titan to crush him. But instead, the titan only stopped the horse, throwing Amir from the ground. He sits still as he prays harder. The titan slowly grabs his hood, lifting it up to reveal his face. It was smiling at him.

A grin plastered on it's face. It slowly lets go of Amir's hoodie before standing up and running away from him. "It looked at my face. Smiling. It didn't kill me." "Amir!" He quickly regains his self composure as John and Leone arrived at the scene. John handed him his horse. "That titan killed my escorts." He mumbles before riding on horse again. "Then we should go follow it and kill it." John said before riding his horse. They soon followed the titan from where it is heading. But the smile and the look the titan gave Amir, sent shivers down his spine.
