Chapter 055

The Iron District

Jiro

We left Tybrum as soon as we finished packing all of our stuff. We travelled by horses and now on our way to Valka, the iron district of Wall Maxima. It's the only district left untouched by the titans.

"Captain, is it a long way trip to Valka?" John asked. The captain nods before looking up the sky to see where the sun is right now.

"If we don't stop, we will be there in no time." He said before ordering us to move faster as the titans are still roaming around the human field of Wall Maxima.

We entered the gates of Lev district and used the passage way to Smith's open field. The horse ride was kinda tiring as we keep on dodging any titans that tries to catch to us. We turned to the west side of the wall and make a round journey, avoiding the wall capital and Phoenix district.

"Ah, Lev. This is the most tiring horse ride I had even done." Commander Hanes said as she leans her head towards her horse's head.

"Hey, four eyes. You'll fall off the horse if you keep doing that." Captain Lev warned. Commander Hanes obeys him and went back to a safer sitting position.

I looked behind me to check out Conrad and Amir who is in charge of pulling the cart where Axel's crystal is. The sky darkens as the night starts to become deeper. The only light we got is the star lights and the moon.

"By the way, Jiro. How did you two ended up to that village?" Captain Lev asked. I looked at Yukan who is quiet all throughout the journey.

"Uhm, we just headed straight and saw the village outside. The campfire was lit. We're supposed to return as soon as we saw the fire, but our horses run off." I explained. He just hums in response before turning his gaze towards Yukan.

"Hey, kid. You're quiet today. What's gotten into you?" He asked. Yukan just avoided his gaze before answering him.

"What do you mean? I'm always this quiet." He said before moving away from us. I sighed as I still remember the day I found out that I was a Yaeger. He must be still upset. But the truth is, I don't even know that I was a Yaeger as well.

"He's acting really strange today. Did something happened between you two that I didn't know?" I almost choked on his question before shaking my head.

"None! I think he's still upset about the Yaeger situation with me." I said, almost whispering the last part.

I didn't recieved any response back from the captain as we move even faster. We ride the horses for hours and hours, which made me exhausted and sleepy. But I can't sleep while riding the horse, I'll fall.

Soon, the wall of Valka district greets us from the horizon. A sigh of relief escapes each and everyone of the scouts.

"Finally! Valka!" Natasha exclaimed. I chuckle as the thought of me sleeping hits my mind.

"Alright, listen up. I knew some of the survey corps that lives inside that district. If you need to rest, just rest." Our captain said before continuing our journey towards the gates.

We stopped for a checkpoint, and after that we are now free to enter the district. The people greeted us warmly, with some being mesmerized by our captain's face.

"What are you grinning at?" I looked over at my side to see Rocco raising an eyebrow.

"It's just weird to see the captain having die hard supporters." I said before shaking my head. We all hop down and lead to a huge house that we're gonna stay in. Axel's crystal was brought to the central part of the district.

As long as we avoid the enemies, we'll be fine right? But sometimes, avoiding them might lead to much dangerous situations.
