26 - WILD DEMON.

° FAITH °

"The deep sea cave known as 'Alvar Pinera' turned out to be the nest of terrifying poisonous snakes. The countless snakes intertwined to each other as if they were tree roots and as if they were one organism. They surround the wall all around us." Emma stopped for a while and look for something. When she found it, she go back on reading the book.

"The terror made the treasure by our feet feel all the more beautiful, are these snakes protecting the treasures? Or did they use the treasure to bait us?" She ended. What, treasures?

I look around and look for treasures but I didn't found something like that in here. I think for a while as I creased my forehead.

Treasure...treasure...? Wait, were those beautiful flowers and bug were supposed to be the treasures? This book doesn't give us the exact details, we need to think a bit before we get the message of the book. That's why instead of roots, he used snakes to represent it.

"Similar, right?" Emma asked, I nodded and sit on the floor of this forest.

"The cave, the treasures, it's talking about the flowers. And the snakes, which is the roots. It's talking about this tree! This book was truly meant to be a guidebook for us!" Emma added and show us the book. Looks like William Minerva really wrote these books to warn us and give us a way to survive once we made it outside. I wonder how he made the high-tech pen, too. Or is the world before already have those kind of technology?

"Hold on, Emma. It's true that the two stories are similar..." We all looked at Ray as we wait for him to continue.

"Well, I suppose it's possible," Ray nod. I looked at him and my hand then, turn to him again.

"But, I'm still wondering how they caught their prey. They have no eyes, or nose," I spoke, they all look at me and I shrugs. If it's not vibration, then there must be other ways for them to catch their food.

They had no brains to think, too, since they are just roots.

"Yeah, wait. Let's give it a shot," Ray said. Emma and I told the kids to back up a bit, Ray get a mug from his bag.

He ready himself to throw it, he even counted one to three and after blurting out the last number, he throw the mug towards the roots. And all of us were shock to see how the roots wrapped itself on the mug and after a second, the mug was broke.

"All right! It uses 'touch'!" Emma and I said in unison. Ray turn his head to us and nod with a smile.

"I see, so they can't catch us as long as we don't touch them!" I spoke, the kids are still trembling even after we knew how this roots catch their food.
