chapter seven

"how was lunch with k?" jaehyung asked, looking at chloe through the rear view mirror.

"it was nice," chloe simply replied.

"nice? that's it?" jaehyung chuckled, "where'd you two go?"

"the convenience store."

jaehyung began choking on air at chloe's response.

"hey hey focus on the road sir," chloe demanded.

"and i know. the convenience store wasn't what i had in mind either, but it was perfect. i'm glad we went there instead of some snazzy restaurant," she added.

"okay okay. it sounds like you had a fine lunch."

chloe hummed in response, "after eating, we went to han river for a bit before returning back to the company. it's nice to have someone i could talk to."

"are you just going to forget that you have me? your manager?" jaehyung asked, offended.

"no no. i know i can talk to you," chloe chuckled, "but like i feel like k and i connect more, you know?"

"chloe, you've only known the guy for like a week," jaehyung chuckled, "but i get it. after all, he is your soulmate."

"right, he's my soulmate," chloe whispered, unknowingly smiled to herself.

"but to be honest," she began, "i didn't really think about that. like the whole soulmate thing. it didn't really cross my mind when we were together. it just felt like a friend-to-friend moment."

"mhm okay," jaehyung replied, unconvinced.

"what?" chloe questioned, "it's true."

"i didn't say anything," jaehyung chuckled.

"but you're thinking something. i know you're thinking something," chloe pointed out, "i don't feel anything towards k."

"hey- i didn't say you did," jaehyung defended, "but- ah nevermind."

chloe sighed, knowing that whatever she tried, it wouldn't be enough to get anything out of her manager, so she changed the topic.

"oh right! what was it that you wanted to tell me before i left for lunch yesterday?"

"it's nothing. even if it was, you'd find out eventually," jaehyung replied, "so let's clear your mind and have you perform your greatest today okay?"

"got it," chloe smiled.

chloe and her manager arrived at music bank for another performance of "wish you were here."

after the performance, chloe stayed in her dressing room because once the performers were done, she'd need to go back on stage and wait for the award announcement.

"oh- k? what are you doing here?"

hearing the distant voices, chloe walked out of the restroom in her dressing room to see jaehyung talking to k at the door.

"k?" she called out.

jaehyung walked away from k, letting chloe walk towards the door. she stepped outside of the dressing room as k aimed a mini camera at her.

"whether or not this clip of us talking will be in the video is to be determined," k smiled.

"video? what video?"

"the little behind the scenes series that my group is filming. we self record and get recorded of whenever we're filming music videos or at an award show," k explained.

"ah i see. but what are you doing here?" chloe asked.

"i'm filling in for one of the mc's. why? you're not happy that i'm here?" k asked, childishly pouting.
