chapter nine

previously in chapter eight ...

despite the inaudible mumbling that was coming from chloe, k settled his laughter down and asked, "what was it that you needed to tell me?"

chloe sighed, "n-nothing. nevermind."

k turned his head and lifted and eyebrow up, seeing how chloe was looking at her wrist again. he sat up straight and also looked down at his wrist.

"we're soulmates. i know," he smiled.

"w-what?" chloe asked, completely shocked.

k's eyes widened, "what? y-you didn't know?"

"no no, i did. i just didn't think you knew .."

"of course i do," k chuckled, "you didn't think i'd go all this time without noticing our tattoos?"

chloe shrugged, "since when?"

"since when did i know?" k asked, "since the interview. your eyes looked very familiar and i pieced it together. the sharp pain that i felt at the convenience store was because our hands slightly touched. and when i went back to the dorm, i noticed the tattoo forming so .."

"so you knew that you already met your soulmate then," chloe finished.

"exactly," k smiled.

"so .. what happens now?" chloe asked.

"nothing .. we just leave it up to destiny to decide what happens next."

"you're a big 'destiny' believer aren't you," chloe smiled.

"what's meant to be, will always find its way. that's destiny and i am more than a believer," k replied, also with a smile.

"there's a lot of smiling between us," chloe laughed.

"and i'm glad there is. i wouldn't want to be smiling with anyone else."

instead of getting lost in the stars, they got lost in each other's eyes.

it seems like clearing the whole soulmate situation opened new doors for their relationship to head towards.

"come, lie down," k spoke.

he was already stretched out on the blanket as he patted his arm, telling chloe to rest her head on it, which is exactly what she did.

k rested his head on his spare arm, the other arm resting under chloe's head as the two looked at the sky.

"look!" chloe exclaimed, pointing towards the stars, "it's an elephant!"

"i don't know what you're seeing because that's definitely a dinosaur," k corrected.

"no it's not," chloe whined, sitting up, "that's the trunk and that's the body. and those stars right there are the big, flappy ears."

k also sat up and smiled at chloe, "i did not know the chloe kim would have a childish side to her."

"i am not childish," chloe defended, "i just get really really excited over little things."

"so am i going to have to get used to this?" k asked.

"definitely," chloe nodded, cheekily smiling, "your turn. lie down."

k turned his body so that his head could rest on chloe's lap as he sighed, "okay .. let's see."

chloe looked down at k's face with a smile as he tried to search for shapes in the night sky.

"i see a puppy and-"
