Guardians.

Prologue.

(Triggers-blood, fighting? Swearing Not much of either)

"Run we're almost there! When we get there we can get through the gate and leave!" Sam shouts pulling Robyn along.

Sam's long strawberry blonde hair was up in a bun, her free hand holding a sword and her body covered in chainmail and armour. They both knew it was a high possibility that they would get found out, but they were not expecting it just yet but it was only a matter of time since the enemies had overrun villages and other kingdoms, destroying the many protective barriers that Samantha and Thomas had created to keep their fellow guardians safe and protected.

The heavy sound of running behind them indicated they were finally found as the shouting came from the goons chasing after the two terrified guardians as they got closer to the large gateway door they desperately worked hard to find.

there was a deep thrum of a bow behind them and an in less than a moment Robyn fell almost hitting the floor as Sam caught her in time, Sam now saw an arrow deeply embedded in Robyn's leg.

"Oh shit, I need to get you out of here" Sam whispered to the other as the other's eyes glowed with a swirl of blues and white, Sams green eyes glowed strongly almost like a beacon or a flashlight, swirls of pink, red and purple as her wings appeared glowing also but not as brightly, the shouting still gaining ground.

Gently picking up Robyn to not bump the wound, sam launched herself off the ground with a powerful wind that made the enemy fall and the ground shook from the strength, within a good ten flaps of her wings they both were in the towering gateway room, sam using her magic to lock the towering doors and growing vines and plants to block the enemy for as long as possible, and to reinforce the frozen door. 

Sam sighs eyes now going back to the green they were previously, wings disappearing instantly with a small flash "are you ok? can you stand?" Robyn nods hoping not to worry the other, "I'll be fine" Robyn replies hoping she sounded as confident as she thought she did. Sam carefully put the other down and tore a piece of Robyn's clothing to tie it around her leg and broke the shaft of the arrow without warning and tossing the fletching piece aside causing Robyn to bite their lip to suppress their screams as tears went down their face.

sam left the other to the panel "I'm going to program the alter to close from this side but remain open on the other side, so you can go through, it will only be effective for you to turn it on, on the other side there is no way anyone can follow you from this side-"

"wait, you're not coming? why?" Robyn realised that the entire time sam had changed from 'we', to you this you that, no longer showing the proper wording for them both to be going together.

The door begins to strain and crack from the new force of the enemies trying to force their entry.

"I need to stay, someone needs to protect the others besides, I don't think I'll be able to handle roman and Virgil's arguing at the moment-" the gateway lit up now seeing that the others managed to create the surge of power they needed to open the frozen gateway.

Sam's eyes shine going to the other still standing awkwardly with the injured leg putting the least amount of pressure as possible on it, Sam takes the others hand to stabilize them.

"here, take my magic and go through the border get them here and find Thomas. I'll be fine" Robyn's eyes shine a light blue with the swirl of the pink that sam usually glows as they stare each other down, evidence of exhaustion on both their faces. 

"Sam-" there was another loud crash causing Robyn to flinch, "I'm not leaving, I can't lose you too" Robyn's throat began to close up as tears began to stream, sam cupped Robyn's face looking into her eyes, they were soothing and calm even in the high-stress situation,

"you won't, I'll keep fighting. you know that." the door make a whine and crack as the plants began to lose its battle, "you won't have to fight if you come with me!" Robyn says desperately "you know I can't do that"

Robyn sighs looking away, sams hand goes to Robyn's chin tilting her face to look into her eyes her thumb brushing over Robyn's lips a silent question, the door began to give way and crumble as the two shared a kiss, soft and gentle but desperate for more and longing, they separated.

Sam whispered under their breath "forgive me for this" as she pushed Robyn through the portal which closed instantly with the desperate cries Robyn shouted echo through the large room.

the room now filled with enemies and began to surround Sam, as she summoned her sword eyes glowing a faint rose compared to the previous shine.

"you wanted me so badly! Try and get me, you cowards!" Sam shouted and they began to charge.
