Trigger warnings- Swearing and character death?

The sun was a couple of hours away from rising when the group were getting ready to go to the core and prepare the distraction, Sam was told to wear her crown to enforce her title of guardian leader, she seemed iffy on wearing having people bow at her any chance they got making her close in on herself more, but she seemed happier and Robyn did too. 

Once everything was ready they wished the team running the distraction luck and went to their starting position, roman was in wolf form and waiting to attack just in case with Virgil next to him for back up, Sam, Robyn and Patton were in position up in the trees blending while Logan was a further distance away, bow and arrow in hand waiting for the first sign of conflict if the plan were to fail already mounted on his unicorn if he needed to get help. But they won't need help,

Sirens went off at the core tower and sounds of hive members silently going to fix what was the cause for the siren, leaving the core tower with a few guards to keep a lookout, there was a flash of white light that roman and Virgil noticed as their signal to attack, Patton, Robyn and logan all noticed it and went in a rush to remove my of the last guards, sam flew down and landed making the ground underneath her shake her eyes glowing an intense red, Virgil had shifted into a dark purple jaguar, tackling a few of the brainwashed members, roman did the same, knocking them out, Robyn stayed back and helped Patton with the water, knowing there was the large river nearby they could use, logan picked them off one by one hidden in the trees allowing Saffiya to incapacitate any that got near them. 

When all around them were either out cold or dead, they ran to the closed door and sam glowed her eyes and opened it, she messed with the panel and it closed locking until someone needed to leave again they all turned around to see a hive member they were tall with raven black hair that went into a pixie, they had pale skin and a slender figure, their features were soft but sharp, they had on a leather suit that roman would think reminded him of the black widow,  they were just standing there staring, eyes a sickly yellow-green, sam and Robyn froze looking at the member, "guys, who is this?" Patton asks, sams jaw trembles, 

"Cassidy." 

the person now named smirked, they rippled and shifted before their eyes into roman causing all of them to move away from the double "what is she!" roman asks freaking out at the look-alike, "they're a shifter, they got caught by the hive because of the king!" Robyn calls out, as they made a circle around the shifted woman, "I know this is a strange time but what are their pronouns?!" logan call out and Patton giggles at logan, "they don't care, since they can shift into any gender it's a pretty much yes when someone asks" sam finally says.

"how do you guys know him!?" Virgil asks still freaking out that the double, eyes glowing deep violet, sams face flushed red "IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER!" she shouted at her bother in defence,  "Sam calm down it was a simple question" 

the shifter's eyes faded from an ugly yellow to a starry silver as they looked around the people who surrounded her "What the FUCK are you doing here!?" she shouted at Robyn and sam, their voice was identical to Romans' making the other four freak out, the two looked at the shifter in shock "Cass? how?" the shifter cried out gripping their head tightly sinking to the ground, Safiya, whinnied, Cassidy, sinks to the ground and groaned as her head felt like there was a hammer banging right on her temples, "go away! you shouldn't be here! I don't want to hurt you again!" Robyn and Sam rushed forward, sam summoning some vines to hold the struggling shifter down just in case, "we're not leaving you again!" Robyn says desperately. sam was silent watching the struggling shifter, 

Saffiya stepped forward and the shifter locked eyes with it, they shifted back into their original form causing the other four to relax now no longer seeing two Romans, they looked the four on the circle still "they- what are they doing here?" she asks trying to hide the shaking, sam sighs relaxing and tenderly taking their hand, "to help us save Home, cass, you've been gone for a while" she cried out as her eyes flickered the yellow then back to the silver, the unicorn took more steps forward glowing their intelligent blue eyes, "Saf, come back" logan called their steed but they ignored him. Now being in front of the struggling shifter as they trembled in pain.

"what going on with her?" Virgil asks stepping forward followed by the others, "she's trying to fight the hives control" logan quickly says Patton looked at them all "is that possible?" sam shrugs "when I was getting corrupted by it.. it was difficult to fight, it was draining to battle with it, so.. it is but its painful and tiring" Safiya whinnied leaning their long neck down so they were eye level, "what is she doing?" roman whispered to logan, " logan shrugs watching interested in what as happening "I have no idea, so shut up and watch" 

They all do and Saffiya's horn glowed a soft blue mixed with silver and Cassidy's eyes shine identical, the ugly yellow intensely glowing then fading away, she gasped then slowly lay on the ground allowing the vines to hold her down. everyone froze, "did- did she just?" Patton says the horse nickered and realisation dawned in his eyes, "she says that she will sleep until this is all over, allowing her to not be in pain and pushing the hive away from her mind to allow sleep in silence" Patton says running his fingers in the unicorn's mane, 

They all nodded "Saf can you stay here to look after them?" sam asks the horse bows and nickers and Patton nods for them. 

"Ok then, let's save Home"

They all stood and walked down the hall, "sam when will we get to the memory room?" Virgil asks, she sighs "you shouldn't look forward to it virge, besides it this room right here" 

They all stop looking at the door, it was golden and had silver patterns similar to the markings on Patton's arms Sam sighs pushing the door open. "lets hurry, we don't know how long we have left."

Robyn nodded entering through the door soon the others filed in following behind her, it had a dens-like fog that confused and disoriented splitting them up from each other.
