Guardians.

Secrets, Secrets are no fun.

Once everyone passed through the doors Patton ran up to Robyn pulling them into a tight hug "why did you never tell me!" Robyn was caught off guard and wheezed as air escaped her lungs, "t-tell you what?" she coughs out "that you're my guardian!" he squeezed tighter causing Robyn to continue gasping like a fish out of water with the bear-like grip never ceasing, logan noticed and attempted to pry off his husband "dear she cannot speak if you hold her in a vice-like grip squeezing the air out of her." 

Logan says coaxing his soulmates grip to loosen and Robyn takes a heavy breath "thank you.." Patton looks at the other now seeming to have a realisation, "how come I don't remember you? from back at the adoption home" she looked away guilt-stricken, "Patton what did you get shown?" "I got shown you telling your brother to get ready for school, he didn't respond, then I got shown you being stabbed with a pocket knife begging for 'Patton' to not forget you," he says she looks away "Patton the fact that I disappeared out of nowhere... means that I technically died...." logan connected the dots "that was you fading wasn't it?" Robyn slowly nods.

Patton frowns confused "what?" Logan faces his husband, "when a guardian sacrifices themselves for their ward for the first time, they fade and everyone who knew of them gets a sort of amnesia that allows them to forget the guardian. I believe that is what happened to you" Patton frowns thinking about the memories he has "what memories do I have that are tampered with?" He asks Robyn hugs herself looking to where sam sat silently contemplating existence with Virgil trying to talk to her.

"All of them?" She says awkwardly and Patton's eyes widen "all of the ones with my parents..." she sighs looking away from Patton shamefully "they're false, I'm the one that took care of you, I gave you Patton as a name, I raised you while they yelled and argued, I made sure you sleeped." Patton covered his mouth then a silence so heavy no one could move took over them, Patton muttered "can I get my original ones back? How do I do that.. I want to remember my sister" he says and Robyn seemed shocked.

"Wait what you want them back?" He nods with a determined frown, "can I get my memories back?" She slowly nods but seems reluctant. "Are you sure? Not all of it was good patt, I don't want you panicking over your past self's actions" his eyes widen, "else did I do?!" She flinched at the panic and she looked for some way to comfort her eyes going navy "you only did what you thought was right at the time, I hold no hostility towards you for them, so if I am to give them back you need to remember this!" She says quickly to calm him down.

Patton had tears in the corner of his eyes she took Patton's hands and gently rubbed his knuckles, "please promise me you won't blame yourself, we both know you don't like lying" she points out and he slowly nods, she pulls him into a hug "when you get sent home I'll restore them, you will have a headache for a little bit but you won't really notice the change until I point it out to you though." she explains calmly, and he nods again carefully "o-ok Robyn" 

sam cleared her throat and stood getting everyone's attention, "now that is sorted, please can we keep moving? we're so close to the core" she asks, timid but forceful. Virgil stood helping roman too, "sam, why did you never tell Ro and I about being polyamory?" Robyn takes a sharp breath and sam looks down closing her eyes, "because... I don't need you to know everything, you're my ward-" "I was your brother first!" He demands hurt laced with anger, "we never kept secrets from each other, unless it was to do with safety, you know were all accepting" he gestures to logan, Patton and roman all silently watching the exchange, Robyn moved to stand with sam holding their hand which looked to be shaking.

She took a shaky breath "I... I uh... I don't want you to worry-" Robyn slowly knew what was happening she pulled the other into a hug who clung tighter to the other, "I don't want you to worry about my shit when your shit is so much worse!" She says he voice semi muffled by Robyn's shoulder, tears now showing face, Virgil paled hearing her voice crack, sam took a deep breath then left the hug, "and sure I could have told you! But when you need to care for hundreds if not thousands of lives because you are the only way things can be fixed you tend to lose yourself in responsibility and forget that you actually have a life!" She shouts Robyn seemed shocked by the outburst sam chuckled lightly glistening tears now streaming down her pale face like a waterfall, "you know... i've been putting everyone's needs before my own for years I never wanted to be this leader! I didn't want to fix this! I didn't ask to be a guardian!"

She gestures wildly "I didn't want to have to be this selfless! I just want to go home... I want to be home with Robyn and Cass... married and you all happy too!" She calms down her voice going low looking away, "but this is what happened and this is where we are now Virgil, so I ask one thing. What has changed since I was just your sister?" Virge thought, lots had changed and he sighs looking at Patton logan and Roman, all were silent not knowing what to say, sam took deep breath eyes glowing a combination of violet and strawberry pink, "don't make this more difficult than it has to be Virgil," logan frowns "make what more difficult?" her eyes flash pink as she looks down the hall "the core... it needs me" she says walking towards the hall.

Robyn looked at all of them the others confused, "sam what do you mean it needs you?" she runs after the others following in tow her eyes kept glowing as she swiftly walked to the core getting closer to the end. 

as they got the entrance she looked back at us eyes going a bright pink, everyone had to squint to look at sam, behind her was a dull grey glowing sphere in the centre of a room with things attached all around the glowing thing, Robyn seemed too panicked by sams reaction to mention what it was.

"sam! please listen to me!" she yells grabbing hold of the unfocused woman's arms tugging them just hard enough to jostle, she just jerks then looks towards the glowing sphere which pulses at the eye contact, "the core... it needs me, let go"
