It takes me an hour to get to Wesley Park, but the drive felt like it was only ten minutes due to my over thinking. I was thinking things like, what would I say when I saw him? Should I offer to buy him food? What are we going to talk about? My mind was a mess.

I get to the park eight minutes early, so I just sit in the car trying to calm my nerves, I can't stop twiddling my fingers. I don't even know why I'm so nervous; I'm just meeting a friend.

At exactly ten o'clock my phone vibrates from my bag, I check and it's an email from Lucas, it reads;

I'm here, I just got out of my car and I'm headed for the park bench that's near the swings.

I look out my window and surely I see him walking toward said bench, and he's holding a cup holder with two drinks on it. When I get out of the car that's when I notice that the area is empty except for a couple of people loitering around. The park has seen better days, the grass is yellow, and all the swings and monkey bars are falling apart and there is litter everywhere. No wonder it's abandoned.

I take my phone out of the car, leaving my bag behind, and I close the door behind me before locking my car. I quickly straighten my skirt before walking towards Lucas. I'm half way towards the bench when he sees me and smiles, he's already seated.

When I finally reach the bench he stands up, and gives me a side hug and says "Hello"

"Hi" I say back with a smile and we both sit down.

Lucas the hands me one of the drinks on the cup holder, it's a mango smoothie

"This is what you always get for yourself when you buy food for Riley and me" Lucas says gesturing at the drink that is now in my hand.

"Thank you" I say with a smile. It makes me happy that Lucas knew that, it gives me butterflies even

"I know it's kind of weird meeting up like this" Lucas starts "But after that story you told me about what happened with your family, I just felt like I needed to see you" Lucas says with a soft smile

"Oh" is all I can manage to say. Jeez Yara why are you so awkward!

"I've heard stories about conversion camps and conversion therapy, and none of them were good. I just couldn't believe it when you told me your parents let you get taken to one of those places" Lucas says to me looking me dead in the eye

"I couldn't believe too at the time" I say looking at the ground "I just felt so betrayed" I say and I tear rolls down my cheek, but I wipe it as soon as I feel it.

Lucas then puts his fingers under my chin and turns my face so I'm facing him. "I am so sorry Yara, you didn't deserve that" He says to me, and I can tell he's sincere

"It's not your fault, you don't have to apologize" I say with my voice cracking at little at the end and Lucas just smiles at me

"I like your shoes" Lucas says all of a sudden removing his finger from under my chin and putting them on his lap

"Thank you, they have pockets " I say awkwardly clearing my throat and then taking a sip from the smoothie Lucas got for me. And Lucas smiles

"I'm not sure what to say now" Lucas says with a nervous chuckle "I didn't really think this through" he finishes then takes a sip of his own smoothie

"I'm not sure what to say either" I say with a smile looking at his face

"I saw a bar on my way here, I bet they have a pool table" I say to him

"I've never played pool before" Lucas confesses putting his hand behind his neck

"You liar" I say with a gasp "Everyone has played pool" I say nudging him playfully
