Thanatotheristes was a medium-sized Tyrannosaurid from Canada. It was discovered in 2010 by John and Sandra De Groton on the shoreline of Alberta's Bow River. It was identified as the first Tyrannosaurid discovered in 50 years, a huge deal for the science community.
This species is an important find because it also show how the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex evolved from smaller theropods.
Thanatotheristes means "reaper-of-death"
Length: 26 Feet
Weight: 2 Tons
Diet: Meat
Lived: In Canada during the Late Cretaceous if the Mesozoic.
Appearance: Bipedal in a horizontal stance. Smooth scales with a few feathers. A mouth full of serrated teeth.
