Dimetrodon was not a Dinosaur, and in fact want even close to one. It lived during the Middle Permian Period of the Paleozoic, and was an ancestor to modern mammals. It may have had primitive fur or whiskers, but for now it is just unknown.
It's name means "two-measure-tooth", describing its unique teeth of the time. It had both canines and incisors, made for different jobs in hunting and eating.
The iconic sail of the Dimetrodon was most likely used for thermoregulation because of the likelihood it wasn't fully warm-blooded.
