Some few days to our final year exams,the headmaster sent for me. I felt I had done something terrible,and I was a bit scared.But I was shocked with the good news that if I pass my final year exams there's a chance for me to win a scholarship to study abroad. I was so much excited and this time determined to do more and score all the "A".One afternoon during recession the teacher who harasses me sent for me,I went to him and he said
"congratulations, I pray you do well to get the scholarship".
"thanks "I replied.
"come here,sit on my laps",he said trying to hold my waist and seduce me
"let go of me "I said taking his hands off my body "don't you have any shame??" I said raging with anger.He smiled slyly and sarcastically said
"You should be thankful I am doing this you,dirty girl in rags".
"Devil".i said gritting my teeth,
"You know how much I can destroy you right"he said coolly and added sweetly "why don't you come to my house,if this scholarship means so much to you??".
"I never asked for your help I can make those grades and I have always done it "I said.
"but bear in mind I can stop you from getting your scholarship".
"Go on,I dare you to go on and stop me "With this I left.That night I laid in bed sobbing why was life so much unfair,my aunt sells plantain by the roadside,how much income would she make??she had two little kids to cater for,the man who impregnated her is so irresponsible but she tries her best to cater for her kids and me, she never complained,sometimes we only ate once in a day or we actually had no food at all,my uniform and my dresses had faded and had some patches,my shoe and slippers always cried for water,life isn't rosy not at all,but in all these conditions there would be a Devil in your life who would want to destroy your destiny. I poured my heart out to God and placed my trust in him cause I believe that he could do all things. I heard a still voice that spoke to me saying Mariana,fret not. I wiped my tears and slept like a baby
