City Lights

Chapter 5

(Alexis's POV)

I felt alone. Even though he was right there beside me, I felt alone. I looked at the buildings of LA as we skated. I looked over at Adam and he looked at me, our eyes met and we smiled. I turned my head back to the streets as we turned the corner. We got to Adam's house and took our headphones out. Adam started walking up the stairs and I looked down the road once more  and followed him. "My parents arn't home so we can make as much mess as we want" he said as I came to stand beside him. He smiled and unlocked the door then walked in. I followed him and set my things at one side of the hall. I walked into his living room and sat down. This was my second home, Adam had been living here since we first met. Infact that's one of the reasons we met, he was new to town and I offered to show him around school and the rest is history. "Where are your parents?" I asked. "Out. My mom is obviously at your house for ladies night in and dad is in Seattle working on god knows what" He said while going into the kitchen. "Want anything?" he asked. "Ya. Some Dr.Pepper" I said as I switched the T.V. on to MTV. My favorite song was on. It was 'Give Me Love' by Ed Sheeran. Adam walked into the living room holding two Dr.pepper cans and handed me one. I popped the can open and took a sip. "Perfect start to a friday and the first day of summer" I pointed out. Adam nodded and sat next to me. 

We ended up watching 'Boogy Man'. I grabbed a blanket from Adam's room earlier and we snuggled close to each other. It was raining again. And to make it even worse, it was also thundering. I jumped at one point and Adam laughed. I blushed and clutched my knees to my chest. Adam then did something really weird but also...dare I say...cute. he put his arm around me and pulled me close. I smiled and gave into the embrace. I turned back to look at the screen and that's when things got bad. A scene showed up where the Boogy man slit a girls neck open. I closed my eyes and whispered "Turn it off" "What?" asked Adam. I opened my eyes again and the screen was still focused on the girls dead body. "Turn It Off Adam!" I shouted. He jumped a little and quickly turned the T.V. off. "What's wrong Alex?" he asked as he sat up to face me. I turned away. He put his hand under my chin and made me look at him. "Alex" he whispered. I closed my eyes forcing tears back. I stood up and said "I have to go" "W-What? Why?" stampered Adam. "I just have to go!" I said a little too loudly while gathering my things and walking out the door. "Wait!" he said. I turned back to look at him. He was confused. I could tell. "At least let me give you a ride home. It's raining and its dangerous out there at night" He said while grabbing his car keys. I nodded and said "Thanks".

We got into Adam's car and I sat silently. 'I can't tell him' I thought. He wouldn't understand. I looked out the window. I can't. He wouldn't care anyway. No one cares. Im on my own. Alone.
