(Adam’s POV)

“I love you” I whispered. I held her in my arms crying. This was my fault. I hit her. It was my fault. “HELP SOMEONE!” I cried. There was blood everywhere. Her eyes…I couldn’t see her eyes…those beautiful eyes were gone. Suddenly the door swung open and the store manager walked in “OH MY- stay here Im calling an ambulance” he said and then ran out of the bathroom. I held her crying and rocking back and forth “Im sorry Alex! IM SORRY!” I didn’t know what got into me. I loved her. She was everything to me and I lost her. There was blood on my hands and clothes and everywhere on Alexis. After what seemed like a century the paramedics rushed into the bathroom and took her out of my arms. “Wait! Im coming” I said. One of the two men carrying Alexis away said “Sir you can’t come with us. You can see her at the hospital but you can’t come with us. She needs space”. Space. The one thing I didn’t give her and I wasn’t going to start then. Not when she needed me. “NO! Im coming! I have to!” I shouted. “Sir-“The man started to say but the other man who was a bit taller and older looking stopped him. “Let him come. He obviously cares about her too much to leave her.” He said. I looked at him and he nodded. I rushed to the ambulance with the two men and Alexis in their arms.

We got outside and climbed into the ambulance. I sat down as I watched the two men get to work at Alexis’s injuries. They raised her sleeve and that’s when I realized what had happened. What she had wanted to tell me. “Looks like a serious case of self harming” said one man.  Then it struck me. That’s why she always wore long sleeves and never went swimming at the beach with me anymore. She was always holding onto one of her arms like it was about to fall off. How could I have been so stupid. So blind.

We got to the hospital and rushed inside. We ran down a thousand halls until we stopped in front of a door. “Im sorry but this is where you stop. You can wait for her in her room.” Said the older looking man. They needed to help her so I nodded. “Here is her room number” he said handing me a piece of paper with the numbers ‘365’ on it. I turned and walked to the room quietly.

This was all my fault. If I hadn’t hit her…If I wasn’t so stupid. I reached the room door and opened it slowly. The room was small but roomy at the same time. There was a hospital bed where Alexis would be a short while later…I hoped. And there was a chair beside the bed and a couch under the window. There was also a small bathroom and a small T.V. in front of the bed. I sighed and dragged myself to the chair. I was tired…but I had to stay awake…for Alex. I sat down and then everything came to me all at once. Alex…Me…I hit her…Blood…Alex going unconscious…The hospital. I burst into tears and didn’t stop. I screamed “IM SORRY” until I couldn’t anymore because my throat went sore and dry. I screamed until I tasted blood and coughed. I cried silently after that. I then I slowly drifted off…Alex…Alex…Alex.
