Silence. Deafening and unnerving silence is all that surrounded Finn on his first day of real work as he sat at the assistant's desk which was just across the room from Wyatt's. It was smaller than Wyatt's more ornate and impressive mahogany desk; which only made sense considering the power disparity. Wyatt was a Congressman and he was just an intern turned assistant, who much to everyone's surprise was risen to the ranks that he neither was trained for, nor had the expertise for.

But Finn wasn't one to shy away from a challenge; if a personal assistant was what Wyatt expected him to be, then he was damn well going to be the best personal assistant Capitol Hill had ever seen. Sure, it started out bumpy; his childhood family friend whom he always had a strange love-hate thing going for was now his boss. Though he fully expected Wyatt to be rude or brash like he was as a teenager, Finn couldn't help but notice that he had indeed matured with age. The handsome man was only twenty five, set to turn twenty six in only a few months; yet he had become wise beyond his years and poised like any older politician Finn had encountered.

"Hello?" Wyatt answered the phone as it rang on his desk. "Yeah, go ahead and put them through please, Thank you." Wyatt spoke to one of the secretaries over the phone; Finn could only assume that it was to put an incoming call through to his desk phone.

"Hello this is Congressman Montgomery." Wyatt said politely, his voice professional yet oddly smooth; Finn couldn't help but notice a stark juxtaposition between his smug voice whenever he talked to Finn, versus his oddly warm but strong tone when speaking to anyone else. "I thank you for calling, Mrs. Davis but unfortunately I can't help you with that, You'll need to contact your local representative or state Congressman for the Georgia General Assembly, they'll be able to hear about your opinions on your issue. Unfortunately since I'm a US Congressman, I don't have much say in local Georgia laws being passed, the Georgia General Assembly on the other hand do." Wyatt explained in a way that was both succinct and thorough without seeming too condescending. Finn almost felt jealous as he glanced up at him, he looked so presidential in that moment in his button down with rolled sleeves, his forearm muscles flexing as he held the phone up to his ear.

"No, Mrs. Davis that's quite alright, I do enjoy hearing from my constituents. You have a good day, now. Alright buhbye." Wyatt smiled at nobody in particular as he put down the phone and let out a sigh, as though he was lodging his breath through the entire exchange.

He glanced up, only to see Finn suddenly lowering his gaze down to the thick binder of small printed legal jargon in front of him; mindlessly highlighting things he felt were important. It had only been a few months ago that Finn's mom called Wyatt personally, asking for a favor of the young man. She talked about how Finn was looking for an internship for his gap year after finishing undergrad and while he applied to Law School. Knowing that they weren't close and didn't align in terms of political ideologies, Mrs. Callaghan asked if Wyatt might know someone who needed an intern; much to her surprise Wyatt himself volunteered to take him on.

Not that it was much of an inconvenience for Wyatt; he'd always enjoyed being around Finn, despite it being incredibly evident that the feeling was not mutual. He loved watching the way Finn would get worked up over Wyatt's 'views', get passionate about things he cared about, purposefully prodding the taller man in hopes he'd get under his skin. But little did he know that the more Finn gave him attention, the more Wyatt enjoyed it. He'd always been drawn to Finn, his Snowflake; a name that perhaps carried more weight than Wyatt lead on. Snowflake was a term commonly used by Republican conservatives to jab at liberal Democrats and their quote 'ease to be offended by even the slightest thing'.

"Hows that coming?" Wyatt asked gently, prompting the smaller boy to look up at him with a cold expression. "You can take as many breaks as you need, feel free to get a snack, some water, use your phone. I'm pretty chill in the office."
