Finn hugged the binder he was holding in his arms tight against his chest, feeling a tightness in his heart as he stood outside Wyatt's office. He stared at that now, all too familiar bronze plaque outside the door with the "Representative Wyatt Jefferson Montgomery - Georgia" etched onto the surface. He nervously tapped his pen onto the binder as he felt his stomach turn within his chest; that all too familiar feeling of nausea before diving into a situation you had been dreading with all your soul and being.
It had been two weeks; two weeks of hell since Wyatt caught Finn and Hudson in the act. Two weeks of constant verbal abuse from Wyatt; taunting him, jeering him. Wyatt was smart and a damn good politician; he never touched on anything that could get him in trouble, steering clear of making fun of him for his sexuality.
Politics was his weapon of choice; it was a Republican dominant office, meaning other than the twins pretty much all of the staffers were life long Republican. Meaning that Wyatt could poke fun at Finn being a "liberal snowflake" to his hearts content and nobody would bat an eyelash. One might see this as karma for how Finn treated Wyatt; constantly mocking him for being conservative; but the difference was that Finn never humiliated him in front of others, a luxury Wyatt didn't afford back to him.
"Just a few more months and you're free..." Finn whispered to himself, taking a deep breath as he stepped over the shoulder and into territory that he now associated with a feeling of insecurity and lack of safety. Reagan and Hailey were nice as usual, often giving him sympathetic looks whenever they'd see him. But the other men in the office weren't as kind; snickering and passing comments and micro-aggressions against him. Wyatt wasn't always the perpatrator, but he was the arson that set the fire, allowing for it to spread amongst the rest of the cishet men in the office.
"Do you have the files I need to take to Congressman Yates?" Finn asked as he walked up to a group of staffers who usually were in charge of drafting bill proposals on behalf of Wyatt. They were mostly men, usually in their early to mid thirties and were the general demographic that Finn found to be most likely to jeer at him. In fact, it was often the older men in their fifties who were more sympathetic to Finn.
"There you go." Said Tyler, one of the other staffers. He was one of the younger ones, in his early thirties and he'd be attractive if he wasn't such an insufferable douche. "But make sure you don't take any detours on the way, Snowflake. Wouldn't want you handing it over to your Liberal owners like a good little spy, would we?" He said condescendingly as he patted Finn on the head like a dog.
"I'll get it to Congressman Yates." Finn said softly, choosing to be the bigger person and ignore the taunt. How could he expect any semblance of respect in the office when the boss was the very one condoning the bullying and harassment.
Finn turned around to see the Devil himself approaching into, the Starbucks cappuccino that Finn usually brought him now securely already in his hand. Ever since the day Wyatt and him argied, Finn's duties were cut down to the bare minimum. He sorted out Wyatt's schedule, made phone calls and ran errands alone; their lunches and little chats and exchanges were now all a thing of the past.
"Hello boys, and Finn." Wyatt sneered as he approached the boys; everyone but Finn snickering his little jab. Finn glanced up at the man, looking to see those once warm and welcoming baby blue eyes now looked cold, angry, and brimming with a deep seated hatred that turned Finn's stomach. All this time he thought Wyatt's smug looks were homophobic and hateful, but little did he know that this was what hate truly looked like in those bright blue eyes.
Wyatt scoffed smugly, a smirk plastered across his face as he brushed past Finn with a nudge that was enough to send his files plummeting to the ground. Finn closed his eyes, letting out a muted huff as sunk down to the floor to pick up the scattered papers and stuff them back into the binder.
