Chapter 5: First Kiss

The next day, around 5pm, Roman was getting ready. Virgil was in the kitchen eating a snack, nervous as hell.
About 15 minutes later, Roman went to the kitchen, pulling Virgil up by his hands. "Are you ready?" he asks. Virgil blushes and nods a little, following Roman outside.

Roman walked with him through the garden at a nice, slow pace, letting Virgil look around. Roman smiles. "Hold your finger out." he whispered. Virgil tilted his head but did as he was told, and a blue and red butterfly landed on his finger."

Virgil gasps quietly, bringing his hand closer gently to look at it. "It's beautiful.." he whispered. Roman smiles more. "She likes you."
Virgil giggles a little as the butterfly flies away. "But not as much as I like you." Roman continued, holding Virgil's chin gently to look at him.

Virgil blushes more. "R-ro?" he says. Roman smiles. "I never thought I'd fall in love with a human.." he murmurs, brushing his thumb along Virgil's lip.
Virgil stutters quietly. "I.. I-i'm speechless- I mean I-i like you t-too- or- l-love you? I don't kn-" Roman cut him off by kissing him softly.

Virgil's breath caught in his throat, eyes widening a little before melting into the kiss and closing his eyes. Roman put his hands on Virgil's waist, Virgil putting his on Roman's shoulders.
After a few moments, Roman pulled away, panting softly. Virgil was also panting a little, blushing brightly. Roman looks at him, smiling.

"I- y-you.. K-kissed me?" Virgil says, stunned but smiling a little. Roman chuckles. "I've known you like me for a while. So I figured, why not take you out?" he says, kissing Virgil's jaw and down to his neck.
Virgil blushes a bit, tilting his head. "W-well you've succeeded in being rom-antic-" he stuttered slightly when Roman bit him. Roman chuckles a little against Virgil's neck.

Virgil giggles softly as Roman put a hand behind his back, holding him. "Y-you really do like my blood, h-huh?" he says. Roman pulls off and kisses where he bit Virgil before looking at him.
"I can't help it, you taste so good~" he says with a smirk. Virgil smiles and hugged him. Roman chuckles and hugs back, running his hand through Virgil's hair.

"I- you know, I never expected my first kiss to be with a vampire. Or a prince, for that matter-" Virgil says. "That was your first kiss?" Roman asks, looking at him.
Virgil nods. "I wasn't allowed to date.." he mumbles. Roman pulls back to look at him properly. "Do you want to be my boyfriend, Virgil?" he asks.

Virgil's eyes widened a little. "R-ro, I'm human. I won't live very long compared to you.." he says. Roman smiles, stroking Virgil's cheek. "Not if I turn you." he says. Virgil looks at him, blushing a little.

"Don't worry, I won't do it until you want me to. Mostly because I care about my boyfriend's consent, but also because it can be quite painful, Virgil." Roman tells him.  "Painful how..?" Virgil asks.
"You will literally have my venom coursing through your veins. It's the same reason why snakes can make your hand go numb when they bite you. See, vampires have increased scent, speed, and hearing. You don't think your body changing to be able to do that would hurt?" Roman says.

"Well when you put it that way-.. Still, I.. Eventually do want you to turn me, Ro.." Virgil says, smiling softly. Roman smiles back. "Then one day, I shall. By the way, Virgil, when is your birthday?" he asks. "December 19th. Heh, I just realized that'll be my golden birthday this year-" Virgil says.
"What is that?" Roman asks, tilting his head. "A golden birthday is when you turn the age your birthday date is. Like, I'm turning 19 this year, on December 19th." Virgil explained.

"Ohhh. Well then, I'll keep that in mind." Roman says with a smile. "Now then," he says, sweeping Virgil off his feet and holding him bridal style. "It's getting late. Shall we go inside?"
Virgil blushes and clings to him, nodding. Roman chuckles, kissing his forehead before walking inside.

"Roman, you seem very fond of your pet." the king says. Roman shook his head. "This one, father." he says, looking at Virgil and smiling. "This is the one I want."
"Roman, he's so young, even for a human.." Romulus says. "Then I'll wait as long as I need to! But he's the one I choose." Roman says, causing Virgil to blush quite a bit.

"Plus he's over the age of consent-" Remus says, eavesdropping as always. Virgil blushes more. "Age of consent- Remus that's not what I meant!" Roman says, putting Virgil down carefully before chasing Remus around the castle.

Virgil chuckles softly. "He acts like he's 7 years old." Romulus smiles and rolls his eyes. "He is still rather young for a vampire. So.. Virgil. Could you explain something to me?" he asks.
"Yes? Er- ummm- Y-your Majesty?" Virgil says. Sometimes, he forgets Roman really is the son of a king.

"How do you place so much trust in Roman? I've seen a couple instances where he would bite you, and you didn't look remotely afraid. If anything, you allow him to. Even Remy tried to fight when he was first fed on." the king says, resting his elbow on his other arm.

"I've had worse than biting done to me. Hell, I've had worse than my blood being drained out of me. It would take a little more than that to scare me. Besides, Roman saved me; if he didn't kidnap me, my parents would have just found me and eventually killed me, intentionally or not." Virgil says, hugging himself a little at the thought.

"And humans call us cruel.." Romulus mutters softly. "Regardless, if you're going to be with Roman, I need you to understand just how big of a commitment that is. You will be loving with him, forever."

Virgil nods. "I understand, Your Majesty. But I'm in love with Roman. Never thought I'd ever fall in love with a prince, but I have."
"That's sweet~" Roman murmurs in Virgil's ear, picking him up and twirling him. "Ro! How long were you behind me-?" Virgil asks, clinging to him. Roman chuckles. "Long enough." he says before kissing Virgil briefly.
