A few days later, Virgil decided to go on a walk with Lily to catch up.

"So, I didn't take college classes because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to major in..." Lily says, trailing off and looking behind them. "What? What're you-?" Virgil asks.
"Shh, that guy, he's been staring at us for a while now. It's creeping me out.." Lily says. Virgil followed her gaze. "Oh. I know him. That's my mom's brother. Never liked him much, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual."

"Yeah, well, he's walking towards us.. We should go, come on-" Lily says, trying to lead Virgil to walk away with her. Virgil, however refused to move.
"No," he says, smirking slightly. "No more running. I want to see what the fucker has to say." he finished.

"Virgil. I see you're alive. And I even got my hopes up when the police couldn't find you." the guy said. "Nice to see you too, Tom."
"Shut up. You wanna tell me why my sister was found dead? I know you had something to do with it." Tom says. "How could I have something to do with it? I've been missing for eight months, right?" Virgil responded.

"Listen here, cheeky cunt." Tom says, grabbing a hold of Virgil's chin. Virgil reacted before he could think about it, pulling the hand away from his face and punching him. "Don't touch me! ....." Virgil looked surprised by himself, looking at the hand he'd punched with.

"You... I'll get you for that." Tom says before walking away. Lily looks at Virgil. "Where.. Did you learn how to do that..?" she asks, a bit gobsmacked. "I... I don't know." Virgil answered.
"You don't know? Vee, you just knuckle sandwich-d someone in the face, how do you not know how you did it?" Lily says, starting to walk back to the castle.

"I just... I just knew I didn't want to be in that hold, and before I knew what was happening.." Virgil says, following her. "So... You're saying that was a reflex? That's some fucking reflex." Lily says. "Yeah..."

When they got back to the castle, Virgil went to the kitchen to get a snack. "You look a bit shaken. Are you alright?" Logan asks, currently sipping coffee at the table.
"I ummm.." Virgil says, staring at the floor. "He fuckin punched his uncle in the face, you should have seen it!" Lily said. Logan was taken aback. "You hit someone?" he asks. "Yeah, he did! Broke the dude's nose, looked like." Lily said.

"I-i didn't.. Mean to... ..... But he deserved it." Virgil mumbles. "What caused it?" Logan asks, a bit curious. "He um.. Grabbed me like this..." Virgil says, mimicking the hold on his chin with one of his hands. "... And it just... Reminded me of how my mother would..."

"Your trauma triggered you fight or flight response, that's what happened." Logan said. "But... I've never hit anyone before?" Virgil says.
"Virgil, you've gotten mentally stronger since you've been here, everyone's noticed it, especially Prince Roman. Because of that, your body stopped choosing flight." Logan says.

"He's right, you know." Roman says, walking up behind him and pulling him close. Virgil blushes, hugging Roman's arms. "You have changed for the better." Roman said.
"I-it was because of you.." Virgil said. Roman shook his head. "I took you away from a toxic situation. The choice to see the bright side of things and get better was entirely your own. Yes, you do still tend to get anxious, but I can tell you've been working on it, and I'm proud of you." he says.

Virgil blushes, looking up at him. Roman smiles softly. "I love you." he says. Virgil turned around, facing him. "I love you too, my prince." he says before cupping Roman's cheeks and kissing him.

"Woah.. He made the first move for once." Lily whispered to Logan. "Furthermore proving our point." Logan whispered back, smiling slightly.

"Well that was bold." Roman said once the kiss breaks. Virgil shrugged a little. "I felt like kissing you." he says. "Sap." Lily teased, smirking at him. Virgil glares at her in a playful way. "You-"

"I'm confused." Roman says, tilting his head. "Virgil always put on a cold front in school and always denied ‘being a sap’ in his words. Now he's totally being sappy with you."
"Hey, I have permission to be sappy with him. I'm what you call a panicked gay." Virgil says, smiling. Lily laughs a little. "You're gay in general! You're a walking fucking rainbow!" she says.

"Rainbow?" Roman asks, a bit confused. Virgil looks at him. "Oh, yeah, humans have what we call pride flags for different sexualities and/or gender identities. I'm gay, and the gay pride flag is a rainbow."
"I see.. How many are there?" Roman asks. "Countless! And they're all pretty, in my opinion-" Lily says. "Hmm, Joan and Talyn both assign themselves with no gender, is there one for that?" Roman asks. "Yeah, nonbinary. That flag is yellow, white, purple, and black, horizontally striped. Though, most of the flags are." Virgil says.

"That's interesting, though, I'm curious as to why?" Roman says. "It's kinda symbolic. Remember when I told you that people are homophobic? Well, the flags are kind of a way to show that we're proud of who we are, and we're not going to change it for people who don't agree with it." Virgil tells him.
"I still don't understand why you humans do that. Hate each other for who you love, I mean. It's the silliest thing to me, there's no point." Roman says. "Believe me, I think it's stupid too. People honestly think I chose to like guys, too." Virgil says.

"Chose? How does one ‘chose’ who they're attracted to?" Roman asks. "They don't, that's the whole point." Virgil responded. "I don't understand humankind..." Roman mumbles. "Honestly, I don't either." Virgil says.
