A few weeks later, Virgil was watching Roman as he practiced.

"I wanna join." he says, smiling a little. Roman smirked a little back, sliding a sword over to him.
"Roman Alexander, he's a human! He could get seriously hurt!" Romulus says, looking at Roman like he lost his mind.

Virgil picked the sword up and stood, walking up to Roman. "Don't worry, father," Roman says, the both of them taking a ready stance. "I won't hit him."

And he didn't; as they sparred, Roman never touched Virgil, even when there was an opening. Virgil was enjoying himself, chuckle-giggling as they fought.

Virgil got his sword held up to Roman's chin, making the prince smirk. "Impressive, my love." he says, Virgil smiling and bringing the sword down.
"Where did you learn how to do that, Virgil?" Romulus asks. Virgil laughs nervously, motioning to Roman with his eyes. Romulus looks at Roman, who looked to the side and scratched the back of his head with a mischievous, almost childlike grin.

"You've been teaching Virgil how to use a sword?" Romulus asks, crossing his arms. "He asked me to!" Roman says defensively, pointing at Virgil. "For how long?"
"Um... Since.. Last April... Ish?" Virgil says. "Why did-.. You know what, I'll let it pass, you'll be my son-in-law in a few months." Romulus says. "Why does it matter, if I may-?" Virgil asks.

"Because technically only trainers and the royal family can use the swords without having to ask- but I'm one of the two princes here, and I taught you. Therefore you get a pass." Roman says.

Virgil giggles. "Cool. Also I got good, didn't I? I mean, getting a sword to your throat-" he says. Romulus raised his eyebrows slightly, staying quiet. Roman, however, smirks, pushing him against the wall.
"Don't get cocky because you won one match, baby boy~" he purrs. Virgil made a quiet noise, looking up at him. "I still hold the power here, don't forget that~" Roman continued, biting Virgil's mark. Virgil's breath hitched, shutting his eyes tightly.

"Alright, enough, Roman, you've asserted yourself." Romulus says, Roman pulling away from Virgil's neck with a smirk. Virgil let out a shaky breath, sliding down against the wall.

Roman chuckles softly, picking his sword up and continuing his practice.

Virgil put his hand over his mark, blushing brightly. "Despite his age," Romulus says, looking at Virgil and kneeling next to him. "He is still a teenager. And even our kind can be rather.. Impulsive at that age. Though, my son Remus is worse known for it." he says.
Virgil gave a quiet chuckle. "Yeah, well, I don't really mind." he says. "No, you don't, do you? You are indeed strange, Virgil." Romulus says, smiling a little.

"You know... You really should smile more, Romulus.. A king shouldn't be depressed forever, right? And.. I know you miss her, but.. Forgive me if this goes too far, but she didn't see... Healthy for you.." Virgil says.
"I loved her, Virgil. She birthed my sons, watch what you say about her." Romulus says. "... Forgive me, but with all due respect, I think I know better than you what a toxic relationship looks like, Your Majesty.

"You two may have loved each other, but from what I've learned, the only good thing that came from her were your sons, Roman and Remus. She starved herself, only eating when she got pregnant. She was afraid of you feeding on her. She left her sons alone in this world at age six and left her mate alone for the rest of his never ending life, causing him to suffer in silence because he can't morally find another mate. If she actually cared that much about you guys, she would have eaten." Virgil says, looking at him firmly.

Romulus didn't know if he wanted to be sad, angry, or apathetic towards what Virgil said. ".... To say something like that so confidently to a king who could kill you faster than you'd blink... You truly are not like other humans, are you?" he says, standing up and walking away.

".... Virgil.." Roman says, looking utterly shocked. "I had to say it, Roman. Your mother doesn't sound like she was very good for him at all." Virgil responded, looking at him.
"... I... I mean you have a point but.. That was.. Eerie.." Roman says, walking over to him. "What was?" Virgil asks. "The moment you started telling my father off, it seemed like everything stopped, every sound, every breeze.. Everything." Roman said.

"All I did was tell him the truth. I'm sorry, but what kind of mother leaves her young children alone when she could have very well prevented it?" Virgil asks.
"I.." Roman said, at a loss for words. ".. I'll shut up. I know when my commentary isn't wanted anymore." Virgil says, standing up.

Roman grabbed his wrist carefully before he could leave, stumbling over his words for a moment. "Neither of us are upset or angry with you, my love, but you have to understand how sensitive that topic is, especially for my father. To hear something like the love of his life wasn't a good person, well.. He knows, deep down, you're right about that. He just never wanted to admit to or hear it.."

"No, I get it. Like I said, I'll shut up." Virgil mumbles, looking away and crossing his arms. Roman frowns slightly. "You think I'm mad at you."
"Of course I think you're mad! Why shouldn't you be?! I didn't need to say any of what I did to your father, but I did, because I have no fucking filter whatsoever! That's the only thing I'm good at, isn't it?!... Hurting people.. I'm no better than my parents.." Virgil says, crying a little.

"Listen to me very closely, Virgil." Roman says, holding Virgil's head up to look at him. "I am not mad. You do not hurt people, and you are nothing like your parents. You're hurt, you're mad at yourself because that's the only thing you know how to be. Tell me, have you ever struck me? Have you ever tried to physically harm me? Have you ever said anything malicious to me? No, Virgil. You haven't done any of those, already making you a better person than your parents."

"But if I just-!" Virgil starts, Roman putting a finger to his mouth. "The only one angry with you is yourself, my love..." he says, hugging him.

Virgil hugs back, crying quietly into Roman's shoulder. "It's alright, my love.. I promise.." Roman says, kissing the top of Virgil's head with a frown.
