*Souline's POV

When Syd and I arrived at their house, no one was there expect Syd's cat Simon. People who love cats are ten times more attractive and fun to hang out with.
We watched some episodes of friends and then decided to make some spaghetti.

"Why is cooking so much more fun when you're cooking with friends?" I asked while putting water in the pot.

"Because if you mess this up, you get to blame it on your friends." she laughed.

"Well, good for me." I smirked.

"I swear if you mess this up, our friendship is over before it even really started." She warned me.

"Oh no.. I'm so afraid. God please help me, please." I laughed, pretending to be scared.

"Is anyone home? Moooooooom? Avaaaaaaaaa? Syyyyyyyyd?" we heard Jack yell while coming through the front door.

"I'm in the kitchen." Syd yelled back.

"Syd, I'm going to be with Gabbie for the rest of the day. Tell mom she don't need to wait on me, alright?" he informed Sydnie.

Well, lucky me. Looks like I got my answer on whether he likes me or not. At this point Syd was just as surprised as I was, because she was staring at me with wide eyes open.

"Syd? Did you hear me?" Jack came into the kitchen snapping us out of our silence. "Oh Soul? What are you doing here?" a surprised look on his face.

"We're hanging out, what else does it look like?" Syd answered a little bit annoyed.

"Hi." I forced a quick smile on my face and then turned around to put the spaghetti into the boiling water. I couldn't look at him right now. It felt like someone's stabbed me with a knife in the back. All I wanted was standing there in the kitchen on his way to another girl.

"Hi." he awkwardly said in return."Uhm I have to go now. Don't forget to tell mom Syd." He walked out of the kitchen.

We heard the front door shut close and that's when Syd let out the most frustrating sigh ever.

"What was that for?" I laughed.

"You and Jack. Why do you guys have to be so complicated? Argh."

"She's Lavenders mom. I told you he needs to focus on her and maybe Gabriela is part of that. It is what it is. It's fine." I lied. Nothing was fine. I finally knew what I wanted and then he decides to go back to her.

"I swear I'm going to kill him if he thinks about getting back together with Gabriela. The things she's done are not cool. I would love for Lavender to grow up to both parents, but in this case Lavender is better off with both parents separated. As his older sister, I want him to be happy and I think the happiness he deserves is standing in front of me right now."

It took me a minute to realize she meant me. I was the happiness she was talking about.

"You're really sweet Syd and I really appreciate all the effort you're putting into this, but maybe this isn't the happy ending we dreamed about." I smiled at her trying not to cry.

"We'll see about that." she smiled back at me. "OH MY GOSH THE WATER!!!" she screamed.

"FUCK. FUCK. FUCK." the water started coming out of the pot but I somehow managed to save our asses.

"I swear if anything would've happened to our spaghetti, I would blame Jack." she tried to make me laugh.

*later that day

Sydnie really made me forget about Jack for the rest of the day even though I was at their house and saw pictures and stuff about him everywhere. At one point, Sydnie's boyfriend Anthony came over and I got to meet him. Let me tell you.. he's one of the kindest human being I have ever met. He's a great singer, super kind and so in love with Sydnie. I love seeing LOVE. Genuine love. It's so rare nowadays.

Around like 10pm I decided to get going. My cats are probably wondering where the heck I'm at. I also wanted to give Syd and Anthony some alone time, because they haven't seen each other in a long time.

"Thank you for the day! Let's hang out again soon, alright?" I said embracing Sydnie into a hug.

"For sure! Text me when you're home and don't overthink stuff okay? Everything will turn out just perfectly fine." she hugged me real tight.

"Thank you. BYE ANTHONY!"

*Sydnie's POV

At this point everyone was asleep at our house besides me. I was sitting in the kitchen drinking some tea, waiting for jack to hopefully come back home.

Thankfully I heard keys opening the front door around 11:30pm.

"Jack?" I tried to be not as loud.

"Syd?" I saw his head pop up around the corner. "Why are you sitting here all by yourself?"

"I was waiting for you to come home."

"Why? Is everything alright?" he sat down across from me.

"Are you thinking about getting back with Gabbie?" I asked him straight up.

"What? No? Why would you think that?" he asked surprised.

"You came home this afternoon, telling me you're spending the rest of the day with Gabbie and we should not wait for you? How does that sound to you?" I sounded annoyed.

I love Lavender with all my heart, but after certain things that have happened with Gabbie, we're not on good terms.

"Syd, she's always going to be a big part of my life because of Lavender and you know it. I didn't really spend the day with her, I spend it with Lavender at the beach outside of their apartment complex. It maybe came out the wrong way." He explained.

"If I thought you're getting back together, what do you think Soul thought?"

"What does Soul have to do with this?" He frowned his brows.

"Are you really this stupid? She's in love with you, you idiot!" I slapped his head.

{a/n: hey lovely people, what do you think will happen next?🦋}
