Still Nikita's POV
“Hello, my bride.”
“What are you doing here?” I asked, backing away slightly.
“I am here to take back what is rightfully mine.”
“What?”
“You, my sweet queen. I am here to bring you back to the castle.”
“Stay away from me.” I grabbed Hilary’s hand and took a few more steps back, keeping my eyes on him.
“Why should I?”
“Because I will hurt you if you come any closer.” I warned, growling the words.
“I could have you killed for that threat. Come along. The horses are waiting.” He turned and started walking back into the forest, stopping when he realized I wasn’t following. “I said come along.”
“And I said stay away.”
“Don’t get smart with me. When I tell you to do something, you do it.” Before I could even blink, he had roughly grabbed my arm and was now pulling me forward.
“Get your hands off me!” I yelled, pushing him away.
“You are not allowed to raise your voice with me.” He took my arm back in his tight grip, most likely leaving bruises.
“Do you know who you are speaking to? I am the soon queen of Alinity. I can have you hung.”
“Not anymore, princess. You cannot threaten me anymore. You have lost your power and the only way to regain it is to marry me.”
“I will never marry you.”
“But I think you will.”
“Not if I get a say.” a new voice said. Samuel.
“Well you don’t.”
“Actually, he does. There is a time during the ceremony that the people can stand up and say you two should not be married.” Hilary pointed out, smirking.
“He will be killed long before the ceremony.”
“I suggest you walk away, Nathaniel.” Samuel snapped, glaring at him.
“Fine.” Nathaniel shrugged and started toward his horses, dragging me with him. Before anyone else could react, I took the sword from his sheath and swung it up to his neck.
“Let. Me. Go.” I demanded, staring coldly into his eyes. He slowly released my arm, stepping away. I kept the sword pointed at him as I backed up into Samuel’s arms. “Now leave.”
“But-”
“Leave!”
He scrambled for his horse, making a small whimpering noise.
“I will be back for you, princess. If I have to wed you in the middle of a corn field, I will. But either way, the throne is mine.” he warned before he took off on his horse.
I dropped the sword, fighting to hold the tears in.
“I will not let him hurt you. It’s ok.” Samuel whispered comfortingly in my ear as his arms tightened around me.
I heard Hilary leave, making up some excuse.
“Promise?” I murmured back, closing my eyes as a tear slipped down my cheek.
“I promise. You will never marry him. He will never hurt you.”
I stayed silent, taking in his warmth as I felt his lips press against my neck.
“You are mine."
