By the way, if you're wondering what Klaire looks like, look over at the multimedia:)

Nikita's POV

It took us three days to get to Greenswood. We had to make several stops so the dragons could stretch and find something to eat.

I pulled up the hood of my cloak as our horses trotted into the large village.

He led me into a barn that his family owned apparently and we left the horses.

“What of my dragons?” I whispered, glancing around.

“Just tie the bags around your waist. My house is just a few minutes away from here.” He helped me wrap the straps of the bags around my waist, his long fingers expertly tying the knots in ways I could never imagine.

He started pulling me through a small market, ignoring all the people shouting out prices.

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t little Sammy.” a voice called as someone pulled us to a stop.

“Klaire?” He broke into a grin as a rough looking girl hugged him. She had short brown hair and light brown eyes with pale skin and a few scars, one on her cheek, one on her nose and a small one on her lip. She looked very…aggressive.

“Um, Klaire, this is my…” Samuel trailed off as he gestured to me, searching for a word.

“Wife.” I answered for him, turning with a smile. Hopefully we wouldn’t be here long enough for her to see me without my hood.

“Wife? Why wasn’t I invited to the wedding?” Klaire teased, grinning crookedly back.

“It was a quite small wedding. Just a few close friends.” I explained, shrugging.

“Samuel was basically a brother to me growing up. I am hurt, Sammy. Truly hurt. So what are you doing back in Greenswood?” She started walking towards a weapon stand, picking up a finely made dagger and running her finger along its edge.

“Visiting.” Samuel finally spoke up, smiling as he took the dagger. “You should not be playing with knives, little girl.”

“I am three months older than you, Sammy.” she teased back, winking. I stared at her in shock. Maybe we weren’t truly married but did she wink at someone else’s husband while their wife was standing right in front of them? I should have her hung.

“I should leave you two to talk. Samuel, I suppose I will meet you at the house, which is…down there?” I guessed, playing with my skirt.

“Yes. Three houses in, dark brown.” he whispered in my ear, smiling.

I nodded and left, glancing back at them several times. Was she the girl he was in love with? Did he lie and say she was at the castle just to please me? They did look rather close. She was obviously in love with him. I could see that already. But he was mine. And he had been trying to kiss me a few days ago. I didn’t see him trying to kiss her. Yet.

Samuel's POV

“So you are officially taken, huh?” Klaire joked as we looked through the market.

“Hmm? What are you talking about?”

“Your wife? What is her name anyway?”

“Nikita.” I answered without thinking then froze, hoping she didn’t put two and two together.

“Like the huntress? I wish my mother had named me Nikita. It is better than Klaire. Who runs from the name Klaire?”

“Who runs from a girl?” I pointed out, smiling back at her.
