After we got home I finished up the last of my work on my new summer clothing line so that I could leave as soon as possible. Roger recommended that I leave within the next few days, and that as long as I was on vacation I didn't have to come see him. He did want me to video call him at least once every other month or so.
After dinner my twin brothers wanted to watch transformers in the family room, so they went with my parents to watch a movie but I wasn't interested since I had seen it before so I decided to head up to my room instead.
I started looking up beaches and houses along the coast in California, and decided on one in Crescent Bay. It was one bed two bath, and had just recently been updated. It was the most expensive one there, which I knew would make my mom happy, but I just liked it because it came with its own hot tub and was kind of away from everything else.
I knew that my parents still weren't happy about me staying in a house that we didn't own so convincing them to let me stay here wasn't going to be easy.
I went into the living room where my parents were watching the movie with the twins to show them the house I had decided on.
When I got down stairs I noticed that the movie was almost over, so I decided to wait for it to end before inturrupting them. I took a seat next to my dad on the couch until it was over.
"Woah! That was like the best movie ever!", Bryce, one of the twins, exclaimed as the movie ended.
"Totally! Can we watch it again!", Parker, the other twin, turned to our parents and begged.
"Not tonight boys. It's time for bed go brush your teeth and change. Your dad and I'll be up in a bit to make sure you're in bed.", my mom said as she turned on the lights and shut the movie off.
The boys went upstairs to get ready for bed and I took that as my chance to ask them about the house. "So I think I found the house I want to stay in."
"Is it one of ours?", mom asked as she folded up one of the blankets my brothers had left on the floor.
"Actually no. This one is smaller and it's on a beach we've never been to before.", I said picking up the other blanket.
"Why can't you just stay in one that we own. At least then I would know that the house is in good condition and where you would be."
"Because, mom, if I stay in one that we own people are going to immediately know who I am and where I'm at, and that makes it hard to relax. Plus all of the ones that we own are for big families, and I'm going to be alone so I don't need a big house. Also I have researched the house and beach that it's on, and they are both nice places. I can even show you pictures if you want."
"Just show your dad. If he approves it then fine I don't care I still don't understand what the big deal is but I'm not going to stay here and argue about it either. I'm going to go see if the boys are in bed yet.", she said and then stomped up the stairs.
"Your mom is just worried about you honey, don't feel bad.", my dad said trying to justify her actions.
"I know", I sighed, "I just wish she could try and see my points a little more."
"She's thrives in constant pressure situations and being in the spotlight, and she loves it. That's why shes able to work without ever taking a break. I understand where you're coming from though honey, I need a break sometimes too, so if you want to go stay somewhere where you won't be seen or recognized then go for it. But I want you to show me pictures so that I know its safe, and give me an address in case something happens while you're gone and we need to get a hold of you."
"Yeah, and I do have a place picked out already if you wanna see it now I can pull it up."
"You can just pull up the pictures on my work computer if you want and I can look them over and if I approve we can call about it in the morning, because no one is going to answer this late at night anyway. You can even start packing tonight if you want, and I'll work on getting your mom on the same page more tonight while we're in bed."
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, dad"
I spent the rest of the night packing my stuff so that I could leave as soon as possible. By the time I was done packing and scrolling through my social medias it was 1:00 in the morning and my parents usually woke up at 6:00 so I set my alarm for 7:00 so that way they had time to get ready and get some coffee in for the morning before I bombarded them with questions. Hopefully they would be in a better mood that way.
I woke up the next day and decided to shower and get ready for the day before going downstairs. I threw on an oversized t-shirt and pair of short athletic shorts. I was really hoping that if we called early enough that I would be able to leave for my vacation today.
"Hey mom, hey dad", I said walking into the kitchen.
"Good morning, sweetie", mom said sitting down her coffee.
"I had a zoom meeting this morning with John, in marketing and before you leave on your vacation you need to endorsee your new line at least once today.", dad said looking at me over his morning newspaper.
"Ok, can I do that while you look at the pictures of the house and beach I found?"
My dad looked to my mother , "Sure, sweetie, and she said, your father and I have already looked at the pictures you left up on his computer last night and we approve of the place you've picked".
I looked to my mother with raised eyebrows. Just last night she was scolding me for choosing not to stay in one of our homes. "Oh, umm, well that's great."
"Your mother and I also took it upon ourselves to call the owner of the house this morning and he is getting it cleaned up for you now."
"Also you are flying to Cali in our private plane we've already got it set up you leave at 11:00 this morning.", my mother said.
"That gives you roughly two hours to style your pieces, post your pictures, and get to the airport.", dad said sitting down his paper now.
My eyes went wide with excitement. "Really? You've already set everything up?"
"Yes, we did it together this morning", my mom said grabbing my dads hand that was sitting on the table.
"Thank you both so much.", I said leaning down to hug them.
My sisters offered to help me style the pieces and take pictures. My younger sister Abby was really good at styling pieces and she loved being in the pictures, while my older sister Sabrina was good at posing us and actually taking the pictures. I was glad I had them to help me. They not only made the process go faster, but made the pictures turn out better as well. Plus they even offered to post some pics in the clothes themselves on their accounts to help build traction. My sisters and I got along great, and when we worked together as a team we were basically unstoppable. We all had something that we were really good at and were able to feed our energy off of each other.
It was just now 10:15 and we had all posted our pictures in my new line. "Mom, dad, we are all done.", I shouted from the office.
"Have you guys posted your pictures yet?", my mom yelled from the other room.
"No, I was hoping you could help us with our captions.", even though my mom and I had our differences I can't deny that she comes up with the best captions.
"Sure honey no problem.", my mom said walking into the office.
After every post had a caption I finished packing my stuff and to leave for vacation.
I got to the airport at straight up 11:00. I checked my email, texts, and posts one last time before we took off. I didn't have any new messages and my posts were doing well. People were really liking the new line.
