After almost four and a half hours the plane finally landed in California. It was a another two and a half hour drive to the beach house I was staying in.
My driver, Terry, helped me unload my stuff once we got to the house.
"Thank you, Terry."
"No problem, Miss Anna. Are you all set or do you need help with something else?"
"I think I'm good, thanks."
He nodded to me and went on his way. I was officially on vacation, and didn't have to worry about school, work, or anything else.
I wasn't very good at taking breaks. I found myself to be a lot like my mom is when it comes to work and stuff. the only difference is when she starts getting stressed and sick my dad can tell and forces her to take a break. No one could tell when I was getting to that point though, which is why I had episodes where I passed out.
After everything was moved in I decided to leave the rest of the unpacking for another time. It was already after 6:00 and I wasn't hungry so I decided to skip dinner for the night and go sit out on the back patio, which over looked the beach. This was supposed to be the most secluded part of the beach, and it was pretty secluded. The only people I saw near were a group of what looked like teenagers my age down on the shore.
I knew that they were on part of the beach that was supposed to go with my house, and when I got here the landlord told me that there was a group of locals that spent a lot of time on this part of the beach even though he had told them not to come on his property. I wasn't too worried about them. I didn't mind sharing as long as they didn't try coming up to the house to talk to me. I didn't want them recognizing me and then telling everyone I was here.
I saw one of them point at me. I just waved at them acknowledging they were there and took a seat in the chair on the patio. I didn't see a point in calling them in to the landlord, they weren't hurting anything and I wasn't wanting to go down there right now anyway. I sat there and relaxed for about 15 minutes until I was interrupted by one of the girls who had come up from the beach.
"Umm hi.", said the girl shyly.
I sat there in awe. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She had beautiful long light brown hair, sun-kissed tan skin, and a light blue bikini on. She appeared to be around 5'5 and she was slender built. "Hello", I said trying to sound confident. "Can I help you?"
"Oh no my friends and I just saw you up here from down at the beach, and I wanted to welcome you." "My name is Jossilyn by the way, and sorry if this sounds weird but you look oddly familiar... have you been here before or something.", she said and smiled.
"Oh, ok, well thank you.", I said sticking out my hand for her to shake. "And no I've never been here before but it's ok I get that a lot. My name is Anna by the way.", I said chuckling.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Anna, welcome to Crescent Bay, and I am sorry about my friends and I being on the property. We didn't know anyone was staying here. We can leave."
"Oh no, you guys are totally fine. I'm not planning on going down there tonight so y'all are completely fine."
"Are you not going to turn us in for being down there. I know that Mr. Johnson doesn't like it when we hangout down there."
"What he doesn't know won't hurt him.", I said smiling. "Would you like a drink or to take a seat or something, I feel like such an awful host I haven't offered you anything yet.", I said and chuckled.
"Oh no I'd hate to impose.", she said looking back to her friends, "Plus I should be getting back to my friends they're probably wondering about me."
I looked out to where her friends were and noticed that they were playing in the water and not paying attention to her, "Well, I am thirsty myself so you wouldn't be imposing, and your friends look like they aren't too worried about you yet, therefore your reasons to leave are invalid. If you just came up here to see if I was going to turn you and your friends in and not to actually talk that's fine just say so, but please don't lie or try and make up excuses to leave because while I'm still not going to turn you guys in that is the quickest way to get on my shit list. I hate it when people lie.", I said a little annoyed.
"What no! Please don't get me wrong I'd love to stay and chat I just didn't know if you actually wanted to or if you were just trying to be polite, I'm sorry.", the other girl pleaded.
"I don't do things to be polite. I do things because I want to, not because I feel obligated to do it. So, I'm going to offer one more time, would you like to come in for a drink or go back to your friends on the beach."
"I guess I could stay for a drink since you asked, oh, so nicely", she said the last part sarcastically and rolled her eyes.
"If that's what you want to do, but don't feel like you have to say yes just because I offered.", I said and walked into the house leaving the back door open for her to follow if she wanted.
"You don't have many friends where your from do you", Jossilyn said following me in.
"No, why", I said pouring us both a glass of tea.
"Oh no reason I can just tell is all", she said picking up one of the glasses and walking into the living room.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh nothing it's just I've only known you for like 10 minutes and you can definitely tend to come off as rude and stuck up.", she moved one of the boxes off the couch to clear a place to sit.
"Mhm, is that so...", I said trailing off. "why'd you stay then, because I gave you an out and you chose not to take it", I asked moving a box from one of the other chairs.
"I don't know hypothetically it could have been because I didn't want to be rude, or could have been because I was intrigued because you look familiar, or I guess it could have been because I think you're cute", she said winking.
"Oh so now you've gone from calling me rude to calling me cute. You sure do have funny way of flirting angel."
"W-who said I was flirting. Plus all of my things were hypothetical so they don't...", my sudden movement threw her off and I loved it, "they don't even count.", she said as I paced around the room. I could tell that I was starting to get to her and make her nervous. This gave me even more confidence than before.
"Oh so now I'm no longer cute.", I said walking towards her. "Interesting."
I could tell that Jossilyn was nervous. She just sat there speechless looking up at me standing in front of her now.
"Well even though you say I am only cute when you're speaking hypothetically, I find you absolutely breathtaking non-hypothetically", I said winking and moving a piece of her hair from her eyes to behind her ear making sure to trace her jawline as I pulled my hand away.
I heard her breath hitch and she stuttered, "I-I... I-I... thank...",but I interrupted her.
"Shhh... it's ok you don't have to say anything.", I said sitting down on her lap. I was facing her straddling her legs with mine and I kissed her forehead.
We sat there for a little bit in silence. I wanted to see what her response was going to be to that, but she wasn't doing or saying anything so I decided to break the silence myself. "Ughh... I really need to unpack, wanna help?", I chuckled standing up and walking over to one of the boxes.
I started unpacking. She sat there not moving until her friends showed up at the back door looking for her. They knocked on the back door and I looked to her to see if she was going to get it since they were her friends, but she still didn't move so I got it myself.
