I spent the rest of the day laying in bed. Sabrina and Abby had both come in at different times to check on me and apologize, but truth be told I was wasn't even mad at them. If I had been in their position I probably would have done the same thing. I was just afraid that maybe I was only a summer fling to Jossilyn.
"You really should get up and eat some dinner since you didn't eat anything for lunch", Abby said walking into my room for the second time today.
"I'm not hungry", I said rolling over to face away from her.
"Anna, come on. you probably don't even have anything to worry about. Jossilyn did seem like a really nice girl over Facetime."
After a short pause and neither of us moving Abby decided to give up and walk out.
"Abby", I said as she was about to shut the door again.
"Yes?"
"Will you show me their pages?"
"I'm not sure that's the best idea. Maybe you should just talk to Jossilyn about it first."
"Please", I said rolling over to face her with tears in my eyes.
Abby didn't say anything, instead she just walked over ad sat on the bed next to where I was laying and pulled up Instagram on her phone.
She showed me Jossilyn's page first, and then Brett's. We were in the middle of looking at Oliver's when the bedroom door opened again. Abby and I both looked up to see Sabrina and Jossilyn standing in the doorway.
"Anna, you have company", Sabrina said.
"We'll give you two some space", Abby said getting up and walking out with Sabrina.
"What's wrong, princess? Also I brought you some of the food that your sisters made for dinner since Sabrina said that you hadn't eaten all day. Why didn't you eat?", Jossilyn said coming over and sitting on the bed next to me.
"Have you ever had a summer fling?", I asked wiping the tears from my face and sitting the plate down on the bedside table.
"Anna-"
"Just please answer my question"
"Yes"
"Well, I haven't"
"Is that all this was to you? You know you could have said no last night right? If I'm just a fling why did you say yes when I asked you to be my girlfriend?"
"No-"
"Then why'd you ask?"
"I don't know I guess I just was trying to figure out if I was supposed to be this summer's hottest target."
"What do you mean by that?"
"It's just that it has come to my attention that you and your friends like to play a game of seeing who can pull the hottest hookup for the summer."
"Do you think that's what's going on here?"
"No, at least I didn't before today, but now I'm not sure. I've never had a fling so I don't even know how to tell if I'm in one or not."
"Ok, then let me just help you out. When I have a fling it usually lasts about a week or two because that's all the time it takes to get into their pants. I don't send good morning or good night texts, I only hit them up at night, I don't ask about their day or care necessarily about their well being. I never invite them out on dates or to my house because I don't really care for them to meet my family. I only entertain them long enough to get with them once maybe twice if it's good, but since a lot of people come and go I don't care to keep them around. Afterwards I don't really talk to them and just go back to life as it was before them. I definitely don't stay the night unless I fall asleep after sex in which case I get up super early the next morning and try to leave before they wake up, and I damn sure don't say I love you.", after saying that Jossilyn just stood there waiting for me to make a move or have any kind of reaction at all, but after three minutes of dead silence she decided to break it. "I came over to check on you since you didn't answer my text earlier, but now I think it might be best if I just go home, goodbye, Anna.", she said walking out. "Oh, and please at least eat something off that plate of food I brought you. The last thing you need right now is to be getting sick, especially when you are supposed to be working and hanging out with your sisters all week.", and she shut the door.
