Jossilyn only stuck around to help for like thirty minutes before she had to go back to life guarding. Josh and I got our food, and it was really good.
"Hey, you wanna go surfboarding?", Josh asked.
"I mean I guess, but I don't even have a board let alone know how."I said.
"I can teach you, and I didn't bring my board so lets buy some.", Josh said as we walked up to pay.
Josh payed for our lunch and we walked over to the adjoining surfboard shop. they sold everything there, there were wet-suits, boards, tape, goggles, ankle straps, board wax, and pretty much anything else you might need for a surfboard.
"Can I help you kids find anything?", a man came out from the back and asked.
"We want to surf, but we don't have boards", Josh said walking up and shaking the man's hand.
"Well, we just so happen to sell those here",the man chuckled. "I'm John, I own the shop and restaurant."
"It's nice to meet you John, I am Josh and this is my friend Anna.", Josh replied.
I could definitely tell that he was Brett's father, they looked so much alike, and he had the same eyes as Jossilyn. He was super nice and helped us get everything we needed for our boards.
"Have either of you surfed before?",he asked as he rang us up.
"I haven't, but he has.", I responded swiping my debit card for everything we had picked up.
"Oh, well if he doesn't turn out to be a very good teacher or either of you want to learn more just give us a call my family and I do lessons in the evenings and on weekends.", he said handing us both a business card.
"Thank you sir.", Josh said grabbing both of our boards while I grabbed the rest.
"I could have payed for my own board and stuff", Josh said as we walked out of the shop.
"I know, but you payed for lunch and we aren't dating so I decided that I'd pay for this stuff.", I said as we walked down towards the beach.
"Anna, your lunch was like $12. This surfboard was $250 and I got the cheaper one between us."
"So, you've bought our lunch every time we've gone out so this is just me paying off my tab.", I said laughing.
"There was no tab. You didn't owe me for any of the times we've gone out for a meal in the past.", he laughed. "It's called being a gentleman."
"Well then just chalk this one up to me being a gentlewoman.", I smiled.
"You're ridiculous you know that", he laughed too.
I just shrugged my shoulders in response. "Do you wanna set our stuff down here? I'm tired of carrying this stuff."
"You don't want to go to the spot behind your house?",Josh asked.
"As pretty as it is there I don't really want all of these people following us to the house right now.", I said gesturing to the loads of people still following us and taking pictures.
"Fair enough", he said sitting the boards down.
Josh and I spent the whole day at the beach. He tried teaching me how to surf but I wasn't getting it and got bored so I gave up. He kept surfing while I laid on the beach and tanned. The media people eventually got bored watching and taking pictures and slowly left. There were so many people watching me I hadn't even realized that we were on the part of the beach Jossilyn was guarding.
"You want a picture of her? It'll last longer, and it won't be as rude as staring at her all day like you've been doing. I might even be able to convince her to sign it for you. Or I mean you could be a good friend and just talk to her.", Josh yelled to Jossilyn.
Jossilyn's eyes got really big and her face got red but she didn't say anything, and I yelled at him. "Josh! what the fuck was that?"
"What? She's literally been staring at you all day, and earlier when she had the chance to talk to you she didn't. Plus I can't tell if she likes you or hates you.", he laughed.
"Well if she didn't hate me before she definitely does now.", I rolled my eyes.
"Hey! Lifeguard chick do you hate my friend? What did she do wrong?"
Jossilyn did everything she could to ignore Josh, however I was getting pissed and tired of him causing a scene. "Josh! You are so embarrassing. Leave the poor girl alone and lets go.", I started picking up our stuff.
"No, I'm having fun now. Plus I know you Anna, and you like her more than you want to admit."
"Even if you were right it wouldn't matter I'm pretty sure she hates me so please just leave her alone and lets go back to the house.", I begged.
"You should come over tonight after you get off", Josh yelled to Jossilyn ignoring everything I just said.
This sent Jossilyn over the edge and she came over to us. "Look ya'll might be able to get away with this shit at other beaches since your rich and famous, and can buy your way outta anything but it's not going to fly here while I'm on duty. So please if all you're going to do is cause a scene please leave my beach.", Jossilyn was flaming mad now.
"Dang, shes cute when she's pissed I can see why you like her.", Josh said to me.
This made me blush hard and I stuttered. "I-I I don't know wh-what to s-say. I'm sorry about him."
Jossilyn didn't say anything back she just stood there. I couldn't tell if she was still mad or not.
"So you're not coming over tonight?", Josh asked still trying to push Jossilyn's buttons.
"No I am not going to come and third wheel the happy couple. I'd rather stab my eyes out with a fork. Why don't you two just go back to you happy rich lives and leave us regular people alone." Jossilyn rolled her eyes. "I've literally done everything I could to ignore you for a week now hoping that you and everyone else would just go away and leave me alone, but no you keep coming around."
I could tell that Jossilyn was upset but I didn't know why. "Jossillyn, where is all of this coming from. I'm sorry if I did something wrong, or if you didn't have fun the day you came over, but I had a good time and you could have left at any point."
"Don't act all sweet and innocent you know damn well what I' talking about. We are the headlines for every media outlet, and the hate that I am recieving from it is ridiculous and Im over it."
"Jossilyn, I am sorry that you are getting hate for that picture, but in my defense I didn't even know that picture was taken until today when Josh told me. I haven't been on any social media of any kind since I've been here. That was part of the reason I came on this vacation.", I said.
"Also I have something else to add", Josh butted in, "it's kind of shitty of you to blame all of this on Anna. She didn't do anything, and you know you could have at least come and talked to her about it instead of just hating her for it. The last thing Anna ever wants is to be in the media. She literally hates being the center of attention, which you would know if you talked to her. She doesn't even model her own lines on her own pages. She posts pics of models and her sisters."
"Josh don't. Let her think whatever she wants. Lets just go back to the house. I know what kind of person I am and you know what kind of person I am so I don't really care what she thinks. If she wants to hate me for something I literally had zero control over then that's her business, but sitting here criticizing her isn't going to change anything so please can we just leave." I turn and walked away not even knowing if Josh was following me because I knew that I was about to cry and I could not let her see that.
Josh and I walked back to the house in silence. Neither of us wanted to talk about what had just happened with Jossilyn.
