The next few days went by and the week ended and I hadn't seen Jossilyn since the day she came over to help me unpack. I guess that she got whatever she was looking for when she came over last time. I was sad because not only was she the first girl that I had actually developed feelings for but she was also the only person I had ever considered a real friend. Don't get me wrong throughout the years my family had hosted dinners with other rich families, but I didn't consider any of them to be my actual friends.
About that time the doorbell rang. I couldn't help but hope that it would be Jossilyn. However, just like always I was sadly disappointed. I opened the door to see Josh Boyd standing there. Josh was the son of Damion Boyd the famous basketball player. Josh and his family had been to our house a lot because our father's went to college together, and our moms had been trying to get us together for as long as I could remember, but neither Josh or I was interested in the idea.
"Hey, Josh, what are you doing here?", I asked as I opened the door and welcomed him in.
"Well,I was at dinner last night with our families and our mom's thought that it would be a good idea if I came out here and surprised you.", he said walking in.
"They still haven't given up on us?", I chuckled.
"No", he said laughing as well, "and they want me to stay for the weekend."
"Of course they do", I said.
"Yeah, plus there's a bunch of people from the media outside."
"What?!", I exclaimed.
"Uh, yeah it's been all over the news the past few days about how you were here on vacation.", he said walking into the kitchen.
"How did they find out?", I asked following him.
"Apparently someone caught you out on the beach at sunset with some chick from around here.", he said opening the fridge. "Do you have any grapes in this thing?", he asked searching through the fridge.
"Yeah, bottom shelf and what do you mean they caught me on the beach with someone?", I exclaimed.
"Bro, have you like not been online at all?", he laughed.
"No, that was part of my vacation stipulations. I'm not supposed to be online or anything.", I said.
"Oh, well check this out", he said as he pulled out his phone to show me the article.
I read through the article from four days, "THEY CALLED HER MY GIRLFRIEND?!?!", I exclaimed. "She's not my girlfriend. We didn't even hug goodbye. We are barely even friends she only came over that one day, and it was to help me unpack not make out and shit."
"So you did makeout?", he questioned and popped a grape in his mouth.
"NO, Josh, we did not make out!", I shouted.
"Ok, ok, damn I get it you didn't cheat on me.", he teased eating another grape.
I rolled my eyes at his comment, "you and I both know that we are not dating."
"That's not what these articles say, or what our mom's think now", he laughed.
"Fuck", I said shaking my head.
"Hey, since everyone already knows you're here do you want to go up to the boardwalk and get something to eat I'm starving.", he said.
"You're always hungry I swear to God I don't know how you're not fat", I teased. "Let me get my shoes on and then we can."
"Sweet, so other than accidentally being caught on the beach how has your vacation been?", Josh asked.
"Good, super relaxing. It's so nice not having to deal with my family, classes, work, or anything else life could throw at me.", I yelled from the other room.
