We sat around the table. I was between Nadia and Orpheus. Their parents sat right across from us. The food made its spectacular appearance. Chicken and potatoes in the oven. We started eating. I made superhuman efforts not to show my rabies as I devoured a piece of chicken uncertain as to whether I had incredibly long to eat this meal or if I had never tried it.
Jason: Erica, we have to say that your behavior really surprised us. You managed to stay calm and guide Nadia.
Erica: Thank you.
I'm trying to minimize the emphasis on the subject. Nadia is uncomfortable again, my mind was back at yesterday's chaos. Everything's in place now.
Erica: There's no need to worry about anything now, the police will take care of it.
Disgusted, I rush to change the subject, but in vain.
Jason: That's for sure. I have complete confidence in them. Of course, more information about the incident will be needed from you since we knew very little.
Nadia: Are we going to have to go for a deposition?
I've got my eyes. I didn't want any trouble with the police. If they found out about my house, they'd actually send me to an institution.
Erica: Mr. Jason, you know the situation is a little weird for me, and I don't know if I'm going to be able to do that. Can we avoid it somehow? I mean... I can answer any question they want as long as I don't have to get involved in statements to the police that will embarrass me.
I've gathered all my knowledge on the argument, I think I've been persuasive enough.
Jason: Of course,it's perfectly understandable. I guess there won't be a problem.
The functions of my body returned to normality and I continued to shove large mouthfuls of food in my mouth.
Jason: Well, you want to speak to me?
Erica: Now?
Jason: Yes, it's a good time we will be done quickly.
Erica: Okay. What do you want to know?
Jason: First of all, how many were they?
Nadia: It certainly wasn't one person, at least two. So many shadows we could see.
Mr. Jason turns his gaze first to Nadia and then to me. I nod condescendingly to him, confirming her words.
Jason: Shadows? You didn't see their faces?
Erica: No, we didn't even hear their voices clearly so we could say something about gender or age etc.
Jason: Yes... Thank you so much girls!
Nadia: You can't say we helped in particular.
Eurydice: It's okay, let's finish our food calmly now.
After I had her permission, I focused on filling the void I felt in my belly and soul. I was almost done when Nadia spoke.
Nadia: Why don't you stay here at noon and read with me? Then you can go to training with Orpheus.
