Chapter Eight

Their first year was bliss and Carson had everything she wanted.

She just graduated and now reviewing for licensure exam while CJ decided to take his masters after he got his degree in Business. They got married like what's been planned. It was a simple and serene ceremony. Unti unti, nakuha ni CJ ang loob ng tatay niya. They've been drink buddies since then. Nakakalungkot nga lang na hindi pa rin nito naibabalik ang relasyon sa sariling ama, while Nay Kamil has always been so forgiving and so patient with CJ.

Marami ng nangyari sa loob ng isang taon. Cash got married to Cassiel. Pia fly to Australia right after she broke up with Adan and they haven't speak to each other since then, Alex got a girl named Miami and Conan, as usual is still single.

Her marriage was nostalgic. CJ would always take her to a random road trip or an out of town escapade whenever they have the chance. He would always ask her out on a romantic dinner at Young's. Carson got everything she wanted and she couldn't ask for more. Pero gannon nga siguro iyon. All good things must come to an end. Dahil dumating na ang katapusan ng kaligayahan niya.

It started when CJ forgot to pick her up at the review center. Ang akala niya normal lang iyon dahil busy rin naman ito at maraming ginagawa. But it became often. Then there's the unreplied texts, cancelled dates, unreturned calls and those empty nights when he never came home.

Doon na siya nagsimulang magduda. Her intuition tells her that there's someone else because what else could be the reason? She tried to talk to him about that matter but it just lead to a fight. He never came home for days and when he did, he was extra sweet. Doon lalong lumakas ang hinala niya.

She loved CJ. He's so easy to love and she let herself fall for him because they are married and she can't see anything wrong about it. Ang buong akala niya, mutual iyon. CJ isn't fond af talking about how he feel. He's never been vocal but she can really feel that he cares and it was enough. It was late when she realized that it was a whole different thing.

CJ never told her those three magic words. She never did as well but she's aware of the feelings. She's in love with him and she would do anything to keep him by her side. Kahit pa kapalit noon ang magbulag bulagan siya sa mga totoong nangyayari.

She decided to eat outside after her review. She had an exhausting day and CJ texted her that he would be out late. He said something about research but Carson knew better. Pinilit niyang ignorahin ang kirot sa dibdib. As long as CJ comes home, then everything's okay.

She decided to eat at Young's since she missed their steak and everything she'll order is on the house because, well, she's Connor's wife and he technically owned that branch.

She took a cab and told the driver to drop her off at BGC. She looked at her phone for the nth time just to see her texts still unreplied. She took a deep sigh and just let her eyes wandered around the area.

"Stop!" Biglang sigaw niya. Biglang preno rin ang driver kaya muntik siyang tumalsik. Dali dali niyang hinanap ng paningin ang namataan kani kanina lang.

It was CJ. Snaking his arms around the waist of a blonde girl. They were eating ice cream on the street. Kitang kita niya kung paano pinahid ni CJ ang smudge mula sa labi ng babae at dinilaan ang daliring iyon. The girl laughed and kissed CJ, torridly.

Carson felt her heart broke into a million pieces. He have never seen him that happy, nor looked at her the way he does with the girl.

"Ma'am okay lang po kayo?" Si manong driver iyon. Bakas ang pag-aalala sa muka. Doon niya lang napagtanto na umiiyak na pala siya. She cried even harder. Mukang naalarma si Kuya. Panay ang tanong nito kung napapaano siya pero umiyak lang siya ng umiyak.
