Chapter 9 Trauma, Tattoos and Sunshine...

“Before you say anything let me tell you a story about a girl who thought she was in love.” I say with a sad smile knowing the water works will be coming I just don’t know how long I can hold them back.

I continued to eat the icing on my cupcake then he grabbed one of my feet and started to massage it. I giggle accidentally then look up.

“What are you doing?” I smile

“I’m just trying to get you to relax so you can talk.” he smiles back but with his chin held high.

“Ok fine I’ll let it slide this time.” I say with a teasing smile and he gives one right back.

I take a deep breath again and let it out slowly. 

“So..my dad left my mom, brother and I when I was only 9. When we moved to start a new life my mom met a new man shortly after. My step dad, Terrance, molested me several times growing up. My dad really never paid much attention to me so I never knew what my step dad had been doing was wrong and he never did it around my mom. When I was 12 he'd drugged me and I woke up with his tongue in my mouth, his hands anywhere he could touch." 

"Luckily I was able to use what strength I had to tell him no which wasn't much since I was paralyzed. By the time I was 16 he had gained back my trust and talked me into giving him my virginity. Telling me that everything he'd had done all these years was to prepare me for this moment. I was afraid to tell him no but I was too scared to follow through with it. When the day came I panicked and he almost raped me. I had been waiting for Mr. Right out there somewhere and the whole thing just felt wrong.” 

“I was afraid of what he might do to me so I told my mom what he had been doing and what he wanted me to do. She immediately confronted him and kicked him out of our lives for good. Mom, Terrance and Kent were friends at the time, she had bought horses from Kent and he threatened my step dad, telling him if he ever came around us again the law would be involved.” I start to feel the tears..oh great! I quickly wipe them away.
