Trip
Another week has gone by and we still haven’t heard anything from or about Brandon. I’ve had some buddies try to keep an eye out on him so we can know his every move but they said after the first two days they followed him he’s just vanished into thin air. They haven’t been able to track him and he isn’t using credit cards so we can’t figure out where he’s been. Todd told me it was probably a good thing, that he more than likely moved on and moved away.
“Yeah, but for someone with all that money you would think he’d use credit cards like he always had. I think he’s in hiding waiting for the perfect moment to attack her again.” I say pulling at my hair.
I’ve been at Todd’s all day hanging out with him while Kenzie is over at Ashtons house hanging out. She said she needed a girls day and knew she’d be safe at her best friends house.
I didn’t want to argue with her and make her feel locked up so I gave her this moment of freedom. Besides I really needed to just vent about this whole situation. I can’t really talk to Kenzie about it because I don’t need her worrying about it.
I hear my phone ring and look to see it’s an unknown number so I ignore it.
“Dude, are you hungry? Maybe I’ll feel better if I eat something.” I look at him to see his response.
“Yes, please, I’m so hungry too!” he says dramatically
“Pizza? Or Burgers?” I look at him and we both say at the same time.
“Burgers!” we high five each other and get up to walk out the door when I hear my phone ring again. Weird, it’s the same number calling me again but I just ignore it like before.
“Who’s that?” Todd asked
“Beats me, I don’t recognize the number.” I tell him with a shrug
We get a block away from Papa T’s diner when my phone rings again and it’s the same number.
“Ugh, I’ll just see what they want.” I hit the answer button almost irritated.
“Hello.” I know I sound a little rude but I don’t care.
“Trip?” I hear a small female voice on the other end.
“Uh, yeah, hello.” I don’t recognize the voice
“Hey, it’s me Violet.”
“What do you want?” I nearly bark out in anger.
“I really need to talk to you Trip. I have something important I need to talk to you about.” she says and I can tell she’s holding back tears from my end of the phone.
“I don’t have time for this, Violet. I told you I am done with you, there is nothing you could do or say that will make me ever meet you somewhere so we can talk.” I say frustrated because she seriously can’t take a hint.
“You have a son, Trip. Well, we have a son.” she almost whispers but I’m pretty sure I didn’t hear her correctly.
“Excuse me? What did you just say?” I pull into the parking lot at Papa T’s and park.
“His name is Riot Alexander Hastings. He doesn’t know who you are or anything, he’s too little to know better yet.” she whimpers quietly.
“I-I don’t,” I start to say but lose my words.
“You don’t have to meet him right now, I just wanted to let you know. I’m sorry I kept it from you these last four years but I knew you didn’t want kids so I just left you.” she starts to sob
