I woke up after her this morning, jumping up to get in the shower when I seen her leave the room. This is the day I meet her family. She told me the other night, possibly in the worst timing, that her brother would be coming this weekend.

I was nervous to say the least considering if the brother doesn’t like you then this whole thing will be a bigger challenge than I thought. She said he’s almost five years older than her and that she was a freshman in high school when he left for college.

After hearing them talk to each other on the phone they seem pretty close and have a weird perverted streak but apparently it’s something everyone just gets used to because it all started with an inside joke.

I get dressed and walk downstairs to see Kenzie had made us breakfast. I see french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice on the table. I walk up to her and wrap my arms around her shoulders from behind then begin to kiss her neck up to her ear.

“Mmmm you’re going to have to stop that or I’ll never get to eat breakfast. Then I won’t get in the shower in time and I need to get ready, babe. We have to be at my mom and Kent’s by one o clock for lunch with everyone.” she giggles then turns to look at me softly

“Are you nervous? You seemed a little shocked and nervous of the thought when I told you the other night.” she gave me with a look that said ‘sorry’

“I mean, yeah, you could have told me when we weren't in that particular position but it’s good. I’m good.” I nod my head and smile letting her know it is in fact, ok. She places a hand gently on my face then leans up to kiss me softly then rest her head on mine.

“Thank you so much!” she whispers

“You are so very welcome!” I pick her up and spin her around a couple times then throw her over my shoulder to carry her to the table

“Hey! What are you doing?” she laughs

“I’m carrying you to the table...” I say like it’s the most obvious thing then add “..and I wanted to do this.” SMACK! Oh yeah, that was loud and she’s going to kill me.

“I am going to get you for that..” she tells me in a very serious voice “and the best part is...you won’t see it coming.” she looked at me and had a hint of mischief in her eyes when I set her down by the table.

“Oh, I’m sure you will and I think I’ll be looking over my shoulder until you do.” I look at her with half mock, half real fear because I believe she will get me back. Only question is..when?

I’ve been downstairs on my phone scrolling through social media and checking work emails for an hour waiting for Kenzie to shower and get ready for the day. I hear footsteps coming down the stairs so I jump up from the couch. When I walk around the living room to the kitchen I stop in my tracks.

Whoa, she really is some kind of beautiful! She’s wearing a blue summer dress that looks like a soft denim that flows to her knees with a sparkly gold belt, a pair of heels that were wooden but have white leather straps with lace on them and let’s not forget the pear necklace she’s wearing that tops it off.

She looks so elegant, sassy and fun at the same time. Where have you been all my life?

“Oh you know here and there?” she says shaking her head and smiling from ear to ear.

“Huh, what?” I say looking confused.

“You just asked me where I’ve been all your life.” she says with an eyebrow raised. “I’ve been here and there just never in the same place as you until I saw you at Lighthouse for the first time.” she says with a soft smile and glides a finger along my jaw slowly until it’s under my chin.
